If recording digital, it can save some processing power to use one reverb and one delay and send each track to them by some amount. As opposed to putting a unique reverb on each track. Just adding onto what others already said
I agree. I'm recording in my condo's living room - there's a wide open space with 18' ceiling and I'm approx 6 ft from the wall to my right and 20 ft from the wall to my left. I'm sure there's some weird boxy resonances jumping around, so that's the thing I'm looking for with posting here - if...
I actually was advised to turn down the delay on the vocals, so I complied :) haha. It's a 1970's Sigma. It was my dads and the first guitar I ever played 30 yrs ago. Still have it. Though, admittedly, I don't take as good of care as I should... it has golf tees as pegs
thanks for the listen
Used an sm7b on guitar and vocals, waves plugins, and Digitech GNX3000 for the bass amp/cab....

yeah i didn't include the mixing area. i'll tackle that later. want to get the source sound better first. like you said... the wall behind. that's the area i am thinking to foam pad. or some other material, as you suggested. i'll pull the mic out away from the wall as much as possible, but will...
Moved into a new condo, setting up dedicated performance/recording spot in the living room. I have my desk/office and TV section already set, and on the other side of the room is the mic setup. Assuming I'm going to leave the mic where it is (would rather not rearrange), how would you go about...
Listened again, I said have put "1:51", where the "over my head" part starts. That whole section sounds really cool. I didn't like the snare sound that much, but that's just a personal thing. I'm sure it's just fine.
ah, k. haha. Just making sure. Personally, I didn't want it there but yeah I could see how it could viewed like that. I really just think I should track quieter.
I think you guys are mixing up the hi hat with the metronome. The metronome is definitely not audible until the fadeout at the end, fyi. Otherwise it's the actual hi hat you're hearing. :)
No, lol. You can only hear the metronome during the fadeout at the end. What you're hearing that sounds like a hi-hat is... a hi-hat. :)
Check the final 15 secs and you'll hear the metronome once the final chord rings out. But thanks for listening and for the comment. Appreciate it
I doubt it's coming from the main area where the monitors are. I usually kept those quiet anyway. I have a thing with tracking loud... Helps me perform all the parts with a bit more energy, I think. I'll come up with something. Good point
Yes! Stupid click. I can't get it to where it's loud enough for me to hear but also isn't picked up by the mic. This has always been a problem. I'm using closed back headphones for tracking. HD280 Pro. I need to come up with something for that.
Thanks for the listen and comment
I'd really like to hear it more dry. Everything is very washy. Nice performances and vocal. I'm getting an AIC Dirt vibe from the mix and tones. Nice work.
Liked it. The timing issues were bugging me though. Is anyone playing to a click? Can you get the percussion and bass down first then record the other instruments over it? Great singing voice.
Wanted to try an AIC tune since I always have fun singing their harmonies. Adding bass on this one, since the bass line really makes the song. Again, was a blast to play and record. Please let me know what you think of the mix.
Vocals - (sm7b) 2 low harmonies (both C, one about 5db under the...
Thank you. That was definitely an option and I usually do exactly that. I wanted it as intimate as quiet as possible, so I ultimately decided to go with just one guitar track. I even fought off the urges to do harmonies. Went against the grain to see if one guitar and vocal could pull it off...
Trying out another acoustic cover. Recorded on 1960s Sigma acoustic with sm7b on both guitar and vocals. Mostly waves plugins, some free ones in there too. I think I cranked the delay and reverb up on this one - both from Tal (talverb and tal-delay). Vocals are doubled with the second track...
it's possible the vocals caught an extra high end boost. i bumped the master bus and also the vocal bus eq up top around 3.5k. those high end boosts really brought life and air into the mix - not a great room for recording and it's crazy flat without the boosts. thanks for the comment and...
