    Zoom H2 or DMP3

I would also say go for the standalone recorder. The DMP3 is the next-up on my buy list, but I'm building a studio. In your case it should do fine. But I would advice some other model, like the Fostex MR8, or the Tascam DP-01 Or if you are 60, maybe you will preffer the analog feel of one of...

Digital Grand - The Most Realistic Experience for ~<$800

Check out some Korg's. My sister has the Triton Le, and it rules. But then again, I'm a drummer not a keyboard player :)

    Samson C02's

I bought the Samson 7-kit and I sold it two weeks later. I hated it, every mike of it, but the C02 were the most decent. With that money I got a pair of Behringers' C2 and B2-Pro. Totally satisfied with them. I still feel like I ripped off the music store guy.

ART PRO VLA/RNC vs. Waves SSL

My studio is still budget, so I don't have any hardware compressors. What I do have is an Art Tube MP Pre-Amp with a built-in limiter. It's not much but I use it as much as much as I can. I'm a loudness freak, so I'm always compressing the hell out of everything. I'm also a drummer so when I...

Entry level Hardware Reverb vs. Waves Reverb

When I really need reverb outside my studio pc (almost never) I use my Behringer's built in FX unit. Apart from that, Up the Waves!

    Presonus: Dual Firepods vs. Firestation+Digimax

If I were you I would get the Alesis Multimix 16. It has 16 individual inputs that are sent to your pc through firewire, however only 8 have mic inputs, the other ones are line only, so you might need another 8 channel pre-amp.

Mixers - Good, bad, or ugly?? Which brand?

I have the Behringer Xenyx 2442FX, which is a liiittle bit bigger than the 2222. I think the 2222 doesn't have direct outputs, which was why I chose the 2442. And I'm very satisfied with it, it has a shitload of features (including sweep mid eq, 4 submasters, 4 aux sends... But I have heard some...

How much RAM for Rock music?

The more the better. I recently upgraded to 1 Gb. And now I'm doing symphonic black metal. Loooooots of compressors, eqs and limiters. My pc won't nearly take all the plugins I use, so I freeze the tracks (in sonar) once I have a decent sound.

Weird noise on built-in digital FX unit (Alesis Multimix)

A friend got an Alesis Multimix, and the digital FX is f*cked up. I turn on the return knob and all kind of digital distortion and sounds start to come up. Even if I'm not sending any channel to the FX unit. I bought it from MF and shipped to a friend's house in USA and he brought it here, so...

    Live band drum mic'ing

Good suggestion. Close mic the kick, snare and toms with dynamics, and instead of using your pencils as overheads, use them as cymbal mikes. And if you have another one, use it in the hi-hat. If you have too many toms or too few mikes you can put a mike between two toms and it will do just fine...

    Advice on Upgrades

Get a mid priced microphone, like the Rode NT1, and the rest in monitoring. Some people might kill me for this but you might wanna try the M-Audio or Behringer monitors. They are the only budget monitors I have tried (I have the BX5a and I love them). Oh, and get yourself a pair of mogami...

How would you record a drum kit with this gear?

Yeah, right now I use a dynamic and run it through drumagog and mix it with a very bassy sounding kick. But I wanted to record the real deal. I guess for now it's the best option.

    Cheaper Vocal Condenser Mic($100-200)

I use the Behringer B2-Pro and I love it. But if I had to buy one from the list, I would prob go for the ST55.

    Cheap kick mike

Yes, I have overheads (Rode NT5). That is why I might be looking for a kick/tom package. As for the PG52, it costs 120. And the Beta52 costs 180. If I was to buy a shure, I would wait for the beta. And 120 isn't cheap, it's quite close to industry standart mikes. And if I was to spend 180$ on...

    Buying a snake

Wow, nice suggestions guys, but the shipping to USA alone is at least 20$. Then I would have to pay more to get it sent here to bolivia, that would be not very far from the price I would pay for them here. I'll get the money on monday, so until then I'll keep researching a little more. Thanks again!
