OSP DK-7 (Cheap kick mic bundle)

Has anyone tried this brand? It seems to be a new and good. I was checking out their 50$ kick mike, but with 100$ more I get a full case, 4 more dynamics and 2 condensers... Or any recommendations on any similar priced package?

Nice guide! Haven't finished reading it though, but looks like you got some interesting info in there. Good job!

    Guitar Hero Wanted

Castlerock: sorry for the delay, mail sent. Superhuman: Wohoo!!! Thanks a lot! and congrats on your babe :) I have an great song for you: La espada de fuego (The sword of fire) Here it is, it's very lead guitar oriented, but my leading sucks ass. It has I think 4 solos in the song. If you want...

DAS19: Thanks a lot man! it would be great! castlerock: I got your pm. Check out both songs I posted in the link and tell me which one you want to record ok? so I'll mix it without the solos and send it to you. The second one (la espada de fuego) will need a little more work, since the solos...

    Guitar Hero Wanted

 Are you f*cking kidding me?! Your playing is awesome man! It would be great if you could help me! :) However I was thinking about many guest guitar players playing the different solos with different styles, but if no one else signs up, they are all yours to pick up which ones you want to...

Do you know the note names on the fretboard?

I played violin for about 10 years, only classical music, reading scores... until I got tired about it and dropped the violin, let my hair grow, started listening metal, and started playing guitar and drums... 100% by ear, no bloddy scores telling me exactly what note to play and where. However...

    Guitar Hero Wanted

Hey guys! I was thinking if any of you guys would like to record a couple of solos as guests for my cd? :) The genre is symphonic black metal, it's a two man band, the singer, and I who do the music and record all instruments, but, as you can hear, I S-U-C-K at solos, so... anyone interested...

Alesis Multimix 16 Fw or Behringer Xenyx 2442Fx w/ Delta 1010 Lt

What would be the best set-up for recording multitrack? An Alesis Multimix 16 or a Behringer Xenyx 2442Fx mixer with a M-Audio Delta 1010 lt interface? Or maybe an equivalent option for the price? Min 8 simultaneous recording tracks.

M-Audio Delta 1010 Lt and Behringer Xenyx 2442Fx

Not really selling them yet, but I'm considering it for upgrading my recording gear. Any offers? How much would you pay for them? Both have no more than 3 months of light use and are in perfect conditions. Musiciansfriend's prices and reviews: Behringer mixer M-Audio Interface

Any young engineers here? ( 25+ under)

I'm 20, and I am working on my thesis for "Sound Operator" and "Music Production". But that doesn't necesarily mean that I make good mixes

Cassette porta studios good enough for classical music?

I'm not sure about what you mean with "bypassing" the 414 mixer. I did the mixing in the peavey, since I had 4 condensers (and the 414 has only 2 mic ins without phantom) , and then I went into the 414's line ins.

Mackie 2408 (used) vs. Behringer MX9000.. need help

I have tried the mackie, and it's a great mixer. I haven't tried the MX9000 but I did some research online and I have only heard great comments about it (at least about their latest, post mackie sue, edition). I would probably go for the behringer, especially if the mackie doesn't have a meter...

    Mackie Onyx 1620

That might be my future setup... when I have the money. Mackie makes good stuff for the price.

Cassette porta studios good enough for classical music?

Thanks guys! I did try many of the things you say. I used the Dbx noise reduction (in recording and playback). I also added top end before recording, but it still had a lot of the background hiss. And I was trying to record it as loud as possible. But since it's classical music it has a lot of...

    what kind of cable???

Aux sends outs are unbalanced, so they are more likely to pick-up static (hiss). If I'm guessing correctly you are going to need those headphones quite far from the mixer. Unbalanced cables are for short connections. If you need a large cable, you might wanna consider a Direct Box. To turn your...

Do any of you get completely pissed off with recording?

I'm lately getting all tyred of just being all day with my gear. And usually when I get to that blocking stage, I get away from the project from a while to come back with refreshed ears.

    Recording Band with Orchestra

Thanks Terra! And what you are saying is true... in part... We aren't the typical we-live-in-the-forest-and-have-crappy-production-on-porpuse kind of black metal. It's far from the "regular black metal", the kind of sound we are looking for is more like power metal. Guitars ala Rhapsody...

Cassette porta studios good enough for classical music?

Crap... I should have known earlier... I did have a lot of dropouts :( Any way to avoid them? I haven't uploaded anything from that recording, but here is another recording of an orchestra plus piano I did with almost the same setup. But I also used a SM58 and a SM57 for reinforcing winds and...
