    What mic am I lacking?

Great choice with the U87. Get the anniversary edition. It will blow your mind. And I would choose the SM81 over the KSMs.

    100$- Binaural Microphone

I have seen some pretty interesting binaural microphones on soundprofessionals, but they all look the same to me and I have no idea which one to go for. Can anyone recommend me a cheap one? Better if it's under 100$. 120$ max. And one more thing, those microphones need their own custom power...

    Juggs Pro Export Series

Becouse it was cheap. And my options were that one, or the cheapest drum kit I could find, which are 200$ crappy drums.

    computer question - USB/Firewire/eSATA

If you are going to record no more than two tracks at the time, USB 1.1 should give you no problems. If you need more than 2 tracks, go to USB 2.0. Your laptop should have that, but confirm with the manual. Also the speed difference from USB 1.1 to USB 2.0 is huuuuge, but from USB 2.0 to...

    questions on firewire recording interfaces

If the preamp has USB interface, you don't need the Firewire interface anymore, you connect it directly through USB to your pc. However if you still would like to connect it to your firewire interface by some weird reason, you could preamp your signal, then go out through the regular XLR output...

    questions on firewire recording interfaces

Check out some alternatives by M-Audio. Or if you want to record one track at the time, there are some nice pre-amps that come with a built in USB converter, so you just plug it on your pc and record, like the Art Tube MP. I have the non-USB version and it works like a charm. It costs 100$, so...

    Firewire Mixer

Firewire Mixer with DA converters? My current recording/mixing set-up is a Behringer Xenyx 2442Fx with an M-Audio Delta 1010 Lt. I was very happy with my set-up until I run into this little baby. It's an analog mixer with built in Analog/Digital converters. It has 16 inputs, which are all sent...

    Behringer, a jem or crap?

I don't know much about audio history, but I think Behringer started the entry level audio. They put in regular people's budget audio equipment. They do what they have to do to make it as cheap as possible, even if they have to steal some designs here and there. I don't think that's morally...

Behringer B2031A and Mackie HR824 monitors...

A friend just bought the 2031 passive, and they sound great. However we agree that my M-Audio BX5a sounds better.

Replacing my Delta 1010... need suggestions!

Get the Alesis MultiMix Firewire. Not it's on 600$ but a few days ago was on sale on 400$ Still worth taking a look at. You get 16 inputs (8 XLR and 8 TRS) Plus all the AD/DA converters are the same ones from the allmighty HD24 Also, you get an analog mixer :)

Mackie Onyx 1640 or Soundcraft M12 or Allen & heath MixWizard...

I would go for the allen & heath without even looking at the specs :)

    Black Sabbath clearly Owned Metal

I voted for metallica, becouse probably without metallica there wouldn't be many of the metal bands I like, or the metal genres I like. But I guess many of the other bands contributed more to heavy metal, which is the metal that started all, but I personally don't like heavy metal, but I do love...

    Iron Cobra or Eliminator!

I have a cheapass ludwig double, but if I could afford it I would probably go for the iron cobra.

    Recommend Entry Level Monitors

I have the M-Audio BX5 and they are awesome in my opinion. However I have heard some engineers saying that the only thing that's worth buying at this price range are the Alesis M1. They are at 175$ in musiciansfriend. I haven't tried them though.

    Alternative kick microphone

Well, an AKG 112 is on my wishlist, but there are other stuff I'm buying first that I need more. As xstatic said, kicks need a lot of click in metal, that is why now I'm using the 57/58. I put it inside the kick, as close to the head as possible, so it gets a lot of low end from the proximity...

How would you record a drum kit with this gear?

You do if you play metal, like I do :) On metal it's pretty common to close mike everything. Overheads are usually used only as cymbal mikes, instead of providing an overall drum sound, since everything else is close miked. I was also thinking about buying the Karma Micro Drum pack. 7 condensers...

Do you guys think I should have my 414's modded?

One thing is modding a 50$ MXL, and another is modding a 900$ AKG. If you don't like your 900$ AKG, then probably it isn't the right mike for you.

    Juggs Pro Export Series

Has anyone tried these drums? And/or knows how much they cost new? I haven't been able to find much about them on the internet.

    record music with PC laptop?

Alesis makes some great analog mixers with built in interface. You connect your analog mixer through firewire or USB 2.0 to your laptop and voila, you can record all inputs on different tracks. But if you want the USB, get the 2.0, the ones with USB 1.1 has only 2 channels on the interface...
