    Four questions

not really. i'm much more content w/ my current electric than w/ my current acoustic. you make a perfectly valid point though. :)

    Four questions

i agree with you in theory, and even in pratice in some instances, but a far as 6-string acoustics, i've now auditioned at least 50 of them, and nothing under $2k felt like enough of an upgrade from my alvarez to spend the dough. i realize that may sound pretentious or picky or something, but...

Recorderman sounds very mono. Is this right?

it does seem strange. i have to wonder if using dynamics has anything to do with it. after all, they're going to be less sensitive and as a result maybe the differences in relative volumes going to each mic is less noticable than using condensers...idk, i'm just speculating out loud. you should...

    Four questions

yes, absolutely! in fact, i'm not at all interested in a dreadnought. the grand auditorium shape is primarily what i've been trying (although i've tried a little bit of everything just for reference). so i played several taylors and martins today as well as various others. the only one that had...

    Four questions

well, i've been researching quite a bit more, and i keep hearing great things about carvin electrics. so i built my custom on the website, and it clocks in at $1768. i'm also leaving in a few minutes to audition some acoustics--the local place i'm headed stocks martin, taylor, seagull...

Post your drumming videos and mp3s here!

i don't think the drum sound is all that bad, really. i'm watching the HD version, and it seems perfectly acceptable. not stellar or anything, but i think you're being a bit hard on yourself. the kick is a little boomy, but hell it looks like it's what, a 32 incher?!?! :)

    Physical limits of drummers?

BEST THREAD EVAR!!! condolences to the o.p. :D

    Physical limits of drummers?

and don't forget mapex drums--the tightness of their heads really facilitates a quick rebound and therefore higher speeds of single-handed rolls. speaking of rolls:

    Physical limits of drummers?

right. i thought the 4/4 standard had been established for this particular discussion. i threw the word "always" in there pretty loosely, when i should've reiterated the 4 rule.

    Physical limits of drummers?

what i mean is, what he's calling 190 bpm would actually be roughly 47 bpm. ie: i quantize my drum machine to click at 16th notes. but, your last sentence, i believe, nails down the entire problem, regardless of what his thought process may or may not be.

    Physical limits of drummers?

truth. i'd like to say that this has become a game of semantics, but it hasn't. the definitions are clear. i think psgor was originally (and mistakenly) using FOUR bars to do his calculations, thus transforming (within this odd paradigm of misused syntax) his quarter notes into whole notes...

    Pearl© or Mapex© Drums?

i guess if we had master control a la PGSOR, we could harness that energy to our advantage. i get so jealous of drummers like him.

    Roxx Drums?

yeah, batter heads make even the best drums sound weird. i always leave mine off. gives "ghost notes" a whole new meaning.

    Pearl© or Mapex© Drums?

hey don't knock it if you haven't tried it. anyone with any knowledge knows that mapex drums have tighter heads. one time i was playing 'moby dick' and punched myself in the face. that's why i switched to tamas. :D

    Blotted Science

i could be wrong, but i'm guessing it must've been either me or metalhead28. glad to see another tech metal fan around here!

Post your drumming videos and mp3s here!

yeah, the toms sound pretty phasey in particular. right at 1:08 and again right at the end it really peeks through. it is odd-sounding. tilted to the right, and the reverb isn't helping--it's like there's a constant tail going. on that note--nice playing, thebangsite!!! good luck with your...

    Let's Go! - Greg_L original

holy crap dude. i'm totally humbled, on both sides of the glass. i know you're fond of depricating yourself on your drumming skills, but as far as i'm concerned, you've just graduated to the upper crust of this place. the drumming is crazy tight. if you challenged me to a dual, i'd be very...
