The Chicks from SLANT 6 would give themselves that "oops, I just messed up" look and keep on playin'. They treated it like no big deal, so we didn't care.
P.S.- LExar has a $20 mail in rebate going on until the end of September: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/-/electronics/B00006HXJ6/rebate-info/102-4835038-9126503 has some details.

pick-up questions
hey, coolasvanillaice, can I borrow your thread for a sec? ;)
I have a BC RICH NJ series guitar that doesn't sound very good- its two humbuckers are just sort of dull. Can anyone recommend pickups?
Also, I have an Ibanez bass that needs a new output jack, but its the...
The ish is, is the hard drive fast enough? Since we can't use just any CF card (the cheap ones won't let you ping-pong tracks) I'm assuming any HD's or CD's would need to have enough performance/speed.
yeah, I see that, but when I found out that my left hand was WAY better at playing fast for a long period of time, I had to analyze what that hand was doing (a mix of stick balance and bounce back with my middle and ring finger) and replicate that on my right hand.
Or I could just settle for...
Scales scales scales- know what you can play anywhere on the fret board. (start with a simple pentatonic box!)
Then once you've mastered that, learn when you can play outside the notes of the scale ;)
Another idea is to have a set of "tricks"- little musical "bits" that you can string...
Rip Rowan over at prorec.com did an analysis of 5 different Rush CD's released from 1984 to 2002. The results show a definite trend in the recording/mastering style from each album. Rip contends that louder is not necessarily better as the record execs believe. The artist however, is often left...
Whatever, no need to act like a jerk.
two words; LOCKING TREMOLO. What else did I need to know?!
Besides- the up and downs canceling eachother out? Never considered it, because when you pull up, you are stretching out your strings. Push down for all the times you pull up and you have STILL...
I think the biggest issue is how does the MR8 perform with Macs? Any mac users out there have any good/bad experiences?
Since you are using the MR8 for the recording and the timing you won't have to worry too much about getting a bad-ass USB soundcard. The biggest issue is to get a lot of ram...
How much effort (on a scale of 1 - 10) did it take to get the timing right? Would it have been easier to connect up to a pc, dump via USB, loop there, then bring it back down to the MR8?
(p.s.- there is no "cheating" all's fair in home rec'ing. )
yeah, for now it makes things LOUD-er, and loudification is pretty much all I need. I'm at a point right now where pretty much all of my gear is messed up and falling apart (apart from my MR8!) so I just want to get some demos tracked. So my idea of good sound is "levels aren't too hot and...
PLay guitar part once, set locations A and B, cut, then reset A to B, then paste, then move A, then paste, then move A, then paste... etc?
I've only played around with the cut and paste once or twice.
Thats what I love about boards like this- everyone has 18 different and neat-o ways to do something; each adds something extra. I might try that (just to get some use out of my ol' cassette tracker!)
