    Love Is Risky recording.

I agree with ya on this one. it is a tad bit cliche. But I do like this song. some pretty good guitar tones and licks. i would love to hear it cleaned up a bit, though. :)

    Lady Policeman

Just so you know... I have had the chorus stuck in my head all day at work. Great job! :D "Lady Policeman..."

just my take on it. I can get that sound from flicking one finger at a time from the thumb quickly raking down the strings. starting with the pinky. then a quick palm slap over the sound hole. that would be my guess. mmm flamenco... by the way. i'm still loving this tune.

    Walkin' the dog

Great blues groove! Cool riffs, great harmonic rips in the lead. I would bring that sucker up some and let it roar during the straight instrumentals. but that could be because I am a string monger, myself! :D Great tune! I can walk the dog... on another string... a yo-yo!!!:D but it makes...

a late night attempt for the third time.

thanks queepy and davidk! I appreciate it a lot. :) I tried doing a bit with an octave pedal on my guitar a little bit ago, but it didn't turn out so well. I recorded some riffs that sound cool on the guitar, but I am not sure what they will sound like on the bass. I am going to try and...

    mixing strumming & finger picking

I have a pick holder that goes on the mic that holds about 10 or so picks. also, (and I would not suggest this) I usually keep a couple of pics between the guitar and the pickguard on my strat.

love that verb! it does have a sense of foreboding presence of mind. one which brings me into the mind of the gunner and shows the questions of the "necessary" decisions that the gunner has taken throughout his course of life. love the transition into major then back to a strong minor, where it...

    More bluegrass... Orange blossom Special

Now this is some good stuff! agreed with davidk, live recording sounds pretty darn good. and that fiddler has got some damn good chops. nice tight groove! vocal harmonies are awesome. Ido, I think a tempo shift near the end would sound stellar! great job! sounds like the crowd liked it also...

    mixing strumming & finger picking

That is a really cool line! and an interesting story! I can see a plethora of possibilities for a song just from that line! very clever. I'd like to hear it, and see wher you go with it! I'm a back and forth player, myself. sometimes i use a pick, and sometimes i don't. I started out 15 years...

Well, i put this up a while back (sorry for the repost), and i would be interested to see what you think. Rocking tune? too loud? too slow? (:D) I am even thinking about recording some bari sax to throw underneath it when i get back home. I think it might make for an interesting comp. maybe...

    john frusciante- ridiculous

ya, I think their older stuff was far more exceptional. (maybe not exceptional, exactly:D) I think, imo, it was the cool grooves they could pull out. The same reason i love early incubus. imo, Fungus Amongus was great. I still love Science. I can't stand their new "kiss me sweetly" shit...

I'm not a rapper, so I guess it's not rap?

hey! thanks, guys! I appreciate what you have said, up-fiddler, and I went ahead and laid it out in more of a standard poetic form. I am having some trouble lining it up and seeing rhythmic patterns, but after doing a few small changes, I can see how just a bit of re-write could help. It may...

    Critique Rough Mix?

at a first glance of the ear... way too much in the cymbal department. drowns out the rest of the music in parts. the cool guitar riffs need to be a little more prominent in areas. vocals are nice, but need to be lowered a bit, maybe. timing is off occasionally. the guitar sounds as if it is a...

    john frusciante- ridiculous

true that! and I think frusciante has far surpassed anything most people can do as a guitarist. despite whether he is a great guitarist or not (which, imo, he is ;)) how many people know of the chili peppers? A whole hell of a lot more than know my name! :)

I'm not a rapper, so I guess it's not rap?

hey thanks ido! I am surprised somebody read all the way through it! I know there is quite a bit of words in there! about a year ago I wrote this. Went on a hip-hop stint and bought a bunch of underground artists like Aesop rock and Buck 65. I had never really got into hiphop before - being...

    Cover Tune for My Wife

yeah, i noticed the sax as well. i am assuing that it is a synth. is it staffed midi, or were you runnning your guitar through something? I had a frindn that had a kick ass box that would change his guitar into soundfonts of various sorts. it had a kickass organ effect on it. it could do...

    Please Review "Crystal"

great rocking tune! props to you and your band! Bass is rockin, great funk rhythm, great drums, and an awesome all around arrangement. It is a great mix, and you should be proud. Just as a critique, i am feeling a little like it is missing some mids. it could just be me, but it is a very...

a late night attempt for the third time.

hey! thanks for the clutch comparison! love those guys. imo, most of it is the 4th bar note declinations that does it. once i get my fx figured out, I am going to patch it up! thanks for the chop comp!:)
