id say in a room that small a vox booth isnt really neccisary. you getting too much verb somehow in there? get some office deviders and set them around the room if you need to kill somthing. no need to make the small room smaller.

ive used a masterroom one and an orban one for years. sound great but a bit noisy. i wouldnt bother with the vermona units as there is a billion old units to be had off ebay. mabye they are better but for the price there are a lot of other things

a good way of heaing your comps and comparing them while keeping the original track clean is to use the buss inserts. bring a track of vox over to all your busses and insert a diff comp on each bus. you can then listen how all the comps color the original and find the one that sounds best. ill...

mxl 603s are great great bang for the buck sdc mics. a little harsh at times but a great clean sounding overhead or acoustic mic.

if you use a ssnake box for your mics to console just make some of those xlr lines dedicated to mic pres. then put the outs into your bay so you can patch em to any channel on your machine.

got my re20 on ebay for around 250 also. good thing about that mic is that its built like a tank. a used one should be fine. things a huge chunk of steel.

id say not to cut ahole in your head. you get get plently of sharp kick sounds if the resonant head is tuned or muted right. what sound are you goin for? you want a clicky sharp sound? try micing the kick head. you want a a deep boomy not so resonant sound? try taking a strip of material and...
