I've tried it and haven't really played with it much but IMO it didn't really do much to the track unless, like others have pointed out, you do drastic adjustments for EQ or gain purposes. I would't buy the plugin however, I would rather choose having different colored mics.

I've used the ECM 8000 for violin and it sounded very rich and accurate.
