    Making drum loops sound realistic

But don't forget that some bands have a bongo player. And some Latin bands might have another drummer on toms, and maybe one or two other percussionists.

    Focusrite scarlett, saphirre owners

For the sake of completeness, I came back to report that the Red plugins did eventually become available on my Focusrite account.

    Select MIDI notes by velocity

It might be possible. Drag the top of the velocity pane up as far as it will go. Now find a velocity handle with the value you're looking for - hover your mouse over the top end to see the value. Once you have an idea which horizontal line they lie on, you might be able to drag a selection...

    Focusrite scarlett, saphirre owners

Thanks for the suggestion but I was only mildly interested in them. I've got the original plugins plus everything in Live 9 Suite plus shedloads of other third-party plugins. I've got plugins coming out of my ears. Or should I say, going into them...

    Focusrite scarlett, saphirre owners

Logged in, checked my account page, only the Scarlett plugins listed. (Scarlett 2i4 purchased and registered last year.) So I clicked your link to the Red Series plugins, clicked the Buy Now link and it quoted $299. Is this maybe a US-only deal?

Cheap device to send and receive midi.

Count me as really curious, too. It seemed to me that baudot was simply describing a cheap MIDI keyboard controller. Can they not be had for sixty bucks or less?

OK, I think I can do 'more present' :) I put a Max for Live Exciter device on the vocals group track and it made them clearer, but really they were mostly meant more as atmosphere, rather than to compete with the piano and pipes. I'll rethink all of this. Those percussion hits at 4:03 now...

The piano is 4Front Piano. Very CPU-light and doesn't use hundreds of MB of samples. The drums are layered: a drum loop, warped in Live 9, and a Drum Rack I put together some time ago, but everything's precisely on-beat. I guess I could humanize it a little. Yes, it's the first track in a...

The piano tone is the one I wanted for this track as it has exactly the tone I wanted to go with the delay effect. Some of it is time distorted, yes. While it's a piano instrumental, I wanted some layered vocals to add atmosphere. These were mostly royalty-free samples from magazine DVDs...

This was my Assignment 3 on the Coursera Introduction to Ableton Live course. At least, it started that way, and is now in the process of being worked up into an entire track. It's complete, except that in the final version I'll be switching some of Live's synth patches for my own. As usual, all...

Dudes that sup yo? Or have I been labouring under a misapprehension all these many long years?

It's Time - uplifiting, euphoric trance track

Thanks, dobro. Mix problems are reduced greatly if you don't have mics to worry about. But I also keep it all down to -8dB and mix to that as I go along, EQing, automating and editing note velocities if necessary, and using a Live Utility to control track gain rather than using the mixer faders...

It's Time - uplifiting, euphoric trance track

Thanks for your feedback, TripleM. I'll check the intro again. The vocals aren't meant to be high in the mix. They're intended more as atmospheric sound effects rather than singing, per se.

It's Time - uplifiting, euphoric trance track

Thanks. I didn't want the vocals too high in the mix but didn't hear that they're lacking a bit in the highs. I'll have another listen to 3:00. As for 4:30 I was aware of wanting to do something different from the usual stop, but didn't spend a lot of time on it. And it shows. Thanks for your...

Software to record 1000's of Audio clips

You didn't say which OS you'll be using but my first thought was Audacity driven by some kind of macro playback.

    From TASCAM to ABLETON

You say "channel" but you also say "files" that don't match. Are you talking about several tracks imported into Live? If so, are you sure that the beginning of each track is lined up in the Arrangement view? Next, make sure the global BPM is set to what it should be (i.e. the same as the tracks...
