    EBow - Anyone use it . . . tried it ?

I've used E-Bow on strats for years! I always use the neck pickup (on a 3 pickup Strat) and sometimes tons of delay for that post-moderney, Big Country sound. Also, try E-Bow, delay and volume pedal or cry-baby. I think I remember E-Bows first being marketed for steel-guitar players. Anyone...

    Hamer Guitars

OH OH OH!! Beware of Hamer!! They used to be a really cool American custom guitar company, but lately they've been knocking off their classic designs overseas. A friend brought me a new Hamer import sunburst to set up and I couldn't even get it in tune with itself!! You can't beat an...

layering guitar tracks with a Line 6 POD

I use a Triple Rectifier for my live guitar sound a lot, so I'm very familiar with it. I've also used the POD to record a lot. I find that the Recto patch is a bit thin for recording. When I go to tape I tend to use the old marshall sounds more often. Also, when it gets thin, try pulling the...

Please share your drum compression techniques!

I'd be really interested to hear different people's approaches to applying compression to drums as you go to tape (or not tape!). I'm especially curious about different comp techniques for room mics.

    Guitar recording

I record my guitars thru a Rectifier (4x12 with SM57) AND a POD and combine the signals and it sounds purty good! Usually I double the parts; one take (amp/pod) left and another take (amp/pod) right.

    "Heavy" guitar sound

Here's a (possibly) forgotten guitar recording technique: I remember Joe Perry talking years ago about recording Toys in the Attic era Aerosmith guitars. He said they often recorded with the amp set really low. If you listen to "Walk this Way" the guitar has a really thimpin' quality to it...

    the ART of compression

I've been doing home recording for only a short time but I find that the most important thing is moderation. Also, I think it's most important to start at the source if you're not completely happy with your results. I was working on a project the other day and the drums weren't happening. The...

    Room mics for drums????

Can anyone recommend a good room mic for drums in the $800 or less (each) range? (I'll be using two.) I mostly use the room mic signal in the final mix and use the close mics for reinforcement. THANKS!!!

    HELP! purchasing HD recording system

P.S: Maybe this will clarify the question: To start recording do I need an external drive? (The Mac has 30 G) If I just have Logic and an I/O am I close? Thanks

    HELP! purchasing HD recording system

I have been making demos with an XT20 and a 1604 VLZ; it's a simple rig but as I'm pretty meticulous I've been really happy with the sound of my recordings. I'm purchasing a Mac G4 dual processor soon. I'd like to start using a program like Logic Platinum and I need to know exactly what items...
