    Holy "Crap"

I picked up an Ibanez RG8 a couple weeks ago loaded with Fluence Classics for $100. The pickups alone are worth more than $100 even used. The catch? Well the wiring was a complete shit show and there is a fairly sizable chip in the paint. It's a pretty good guitar though. I like it more...

    Boss 001

Depends entirely on what you are after. If you can stretch your budget I would say go with the line 6 pod go because it has Helix tech.

    whats your 2020 setup?

Things I've figured out in 24 hours: 1. Yep, works with whatever. (cubase reaper etc...) Has Asio driver support. 2. Given I bought it used, I didn't get pro tools. That's totally fine with me because I wouldn't use it anyway. I imagine that played into the price though. 3. Yeah the price...

    Muddy and Fizzy Guitar Recordings

I know this post is old, but yeah I fucking hate it. I never understood the appeal of shoving a 57 right up next to the cone only to put a hpf on in post. Just back the mic up a bit. I remember reading that Andy Sneap would remove the grill cover be it cloth or metal mesh just so he could get...

    whats your 2020 setup?

Well, it wasn't really a plan and more like an impulse buy but I just picked up an eleven rack today. My toneport died so I wanted something for direct recording and silent guitar playing and the opportunity presented itself to acquire one in excellent shape for cheap ($100).

I built a King Of Tone.

Low end (sub 90hz) isn't what I want in a guitar tone anyway. I love the breakup this thing gets primarily. Leaving the right side on boost (like it is stock) and the left side on overdrive works great IMO.

I built a King Of Tone.

I used the pedalpcb.com paragon pcb. I used what the real king of tone uses in the clipping section. The only deviation that I am aware of with this build is the internal charge pump that runs the circuit at 18v instead of 9v so unlike the real king this pedal runs at 18v all the time and you...

    whats your 2020 setup?

I find the conversation interesting so I'll expand a bit: -I'm still using cubase pro 10 but plan to upgrade to 10.5 once it's been out a while. -I'm still using a profire 2626 (m-audio) but the drivers are starting to become more and more unstable so I plan on snagging the new quantum 2626...

    Upgrading...finally.

Older projects should open in newer versions of cubase. If I remember right they introduced backwards compatibility after C7.

    whats your 2020 setup?

In terms of recording bass and guitar: Bass--->BBE bmax bass preamp--->profire 2626 (needs to be replaced, starting to shit the bed)--->built in 2016 PC--->Cubase pro 10 Guitar--->Pedals of choice--->Mesa DR/5150--->crate Vintage 30 birch cab--->SM57--->profire 2626--->PC--->Cubase pro 10...

Yo' CockO's I paid for your Reaper already V6 aint that different!

lol I pay for .5 updates and major updates. Thankfully cubase always seems to add enough new features to make the bump worth it. It's one of the reasons I recommend Reaper to people though.

    Recording Heavy Metal Guitars?

I'm replying with a clip of a 5150 sig head. Vintage 30s and 1 sm57 going into some firepod preamps (what I had when I made this) and recorded in a small apartment: Fans of Ola Englund will recognize the track. He posted the DI tracks at one point and the drum midi and bass so this is reamped...

Strymon Iridium demo - "Center of Everywhere"

I've been curious about that little guy, so far the demos seem to be pretty good. I kind of want to mess around with this kind of a thing but I want something I can load in my own impulses. Been eyeing the Mooer Radar as it's cheap. I still want a Torpedo Captor though. The idea of running...

iZotope Bundle for onyl 49,- USD

My quick synopsis of the bundle: RX elements: It's excellent for doing what you say you want to do and IMO this bundle is worth it for this alone. Nectar Elements: I may be alone here but I find the elements version to be to lite to bother with. This one gets a meh from me. Neutron Elements...

Looking for a good drum library

I have both Ez drummer 2 and Superior Drummer 3. If you are just looking to mash out demos EZ drummer is more than good enough in my opinion. That said, Superior really is superior in pretty much every way. There are libraries in ez drummer where the routing flexibility is limited quite a...

    Rick Beato about gear

They work ok for practice and pitching into bon fires for fun. A crap amp is not the same thing as a cheap amp. There are cheap amps the kick ass. There are also definitely shit amps that are shit for pretty much everything.

    Rick Beato about gear

Agreed. I'll take a nice amp and a shit guitar (that stays in tune) over a shit amp with a nice guitar any day.
