I will stick with Cubase pro 9 ... do you wonder why?

So now that my last post is 4 weeks old, I can say with confidence I have had exactly 0 issues with cubase 9.5 pro. This includes sessions with multiple instances of Kontakt, battery, and massive. So anyone thinking about it, I would say yeah just go for it.

    Recording Bass at home.

    1. Good bass (wood body, I prefer J or P+J configs). Good doesn't mean expensive, good just means a bass that tracks well. A lot of people like the squire vintage jazz bass guitars and I'm sure they do a fine job on a budget. 2. New strings (a must for anything rock, metal or just modern in...

    Keyboard drums?

I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm going to guess that you aren't going to find anyone who does this. Not to say it can't work, I just doubt it's a common practice.

    Drum Recording

And tuning is indeed taste, however there are a few things I have learned through doing it for a while. These are fairly general stuff as it's not exact but yeah. If you want a shit load of sustain after the hit, tune the both heads exactly the same. If you want that low end descending pitch...

    Drum Recording

I can only tell you that if I was in your situation I would personally just go down to a 4 piece kit and try to separate the cymbals from the shells (by raising the cymbals away from the shells) to get rid of as much bleed as I could. I would personally have 2 well recorded toms (cheaper to get...

    Drummer Headphone Mix - I don't understand!

I can only tell you how I do it/would do it (using your gear as it is similar to mine): I would connect a stereo pair of outputs on the Saffire pro to a headphone amp using short TRS cables. I would plug in one of the sends on the snake into one of the outputs on the headphone amp. The reason...

I will stick with Cubase pro 9 ... do you wonder why?

I use it for reference tracks (so they don't go through the master bus processing) and setting up headphone mixes. I actually might setup the talk back function next time I track as well. Eventually I would like another set of reference speakers/monitors so those will be done through control...

    Compression on the way in?

If I owned a hardware 1176 or Distressor I think I would almost always compress on the way in because those two units are awesome. :thumbs up: I kind of want to try the warm 76 and see if it's any good.

    Snare Samples?

Just a quick thing. While what I said was true for Superior 2, Superior 3 does indeed allow you to import your own samples if you want.

I will stick with Cubase pro 9 ... do you wonder why?

I actually didn't until this year. Now that I have, I pretty much feel like an idiot for not doing so sooner. Your experience may vary of course, but once I switched there was no turning back.

I will stick with Cubase pro 9 ... do you wonder why?

I haven't upgraded yet, but the dock able control room controls is what I really want out of 9.5 the most right now. I hate having that dumb thing disappear all the time.

Show me your parallel drum compression?

I'll try to remember to reply to this. For some reason I have forgotten the bus compressor I'm using for this as I'm fairly certain I have changed it recently (possibly the SSL Duende bus comp). But I have no problem posting it. I'm at work if you are wondering why I didn't post it now...

    Does "reamping" degrade overall signal

I have never noticed any degradation of signal quality. Actually if anything I have noticed there is a lot less noise introduced.

Different EQs show different peaking for the same drum element?

Yeah this. Throw up a 100hz test tone and do it again. :)

Looking for tracks to practice mixing

The link I posted is legit. The only downside (IMO not even really a downside) is you have to give Brian your email. I don't see the downside, it's 5 songs for practice and you can even use them in your personal portfolio.

How to record a channel while muted (cubase/clarret8)?

This is not a cubase issue, this would be something that needed to be done inside the clarett control panel somewhere based on what I'm looking at with your setup as you aren't monitoring through cubase as far as I understand it. So my guess (and it is a guess) is that there should be a way to...
