Ok.. so this might be a reallllly dumb question... but does anyone like the old electric Ovation Vipers from the 70's?
Ones like these or similiar:

For some reason I really like the way they...
So I'm looking to get a pre for less than 2k. I want something that will last a long time and will be an investment of sorts.
I will be using it mostly for pop recordings... vocals, acoustic guitars, electric guitars, etc.
I've been looking at the UA 6176 and the Avalon 737. anyone have any...
seems kinda funny to me. just a couple weeks ago Cloneboy told me that this mix of mine was "terrible" and that i should start all over:

Maybe I am crazy.. but I think my recording and my mix blow Cloneboy's out of the...
Ok.. can I claim 3rd place? Here is the final mix of the my most recent project. I feel pretty good about it.

It starts off kinda small and builds. The last chorus gets pretty big.
-Mach (trying to use this thread for his advantage)
whether those drums or real or fake.. they don't sound good at all. the kick is way too loud and clickey. and having the cymbal hits panned completely hard like that makes it sound really unproffesional.
also, listen to the performance of the drummer. either they are fake or that is one of the...

"Candy Apple" is a really great song. Kind of folk pop. "Autumn" isn't as strong a song.. but has a cool indie vibe to it...
Have two songs I am in the process of mixing. Definately need some extra set of ears to help finish...

Any thoughts would be really appreciated..
Yareek- man.. i dont remember much about the drums or vocals for the last record. it was over 2 years ago. i can find out about the compressors though..
As for new Copeland tunes.. i'd be in big trouble if I let any out. the label is REALLY trying to keep it under wraps and not let it leak..
Thanks for the kind words everyone.
Unfortunately the mix is "done" for that band.. it's going to be pressed this week. No big deal though...
And about Copeland recordings.. sure, pick away. :) We have a new full length coming out March 22. It's called "In Motion" and I think it is a big step...
Did I record Copeland? not the full lengths. But I am in the band..
Cloneboy- ouch. sounds THAT bad huh? i am aware about the compression issue on the drums. again.. this was my first time with live drums. the drummer was not very good and his kit was a real piece of crap. I was trying anything...
hey everyone.
so i am producing and mixing other bands now. this is the first one i worked with. it is also the first time i have recorded live drums. we did the tracking in two days for 4 songs... and they had nothing but reallllly crappy gear. however I think it turned out pretty great...
