here's my soldering method (which has worked will for me...)= place the wire onto the cable end surface (where the wire connects), touch the solder iron tip to the surface to heat up both pieces, when it heats up slowly feed the solder until you have nice coverage between end of wire and...
currently in the market for a kick drum mic to replace my audio technica drum kit-pac kick mic (useable, but not great):
could anyone give me a nice breakdown of pros/cons of the following mics:
akg d112
shure beta52
at mpro25
does the audio technica compare favorably to the the akg/shure...
nice kit man!! I have a yamaha beech custom and love 'em. I agree with what's been said regarding ability to get a great drum sound with 4 channels....
having said that - here's my counterpoint - I currently have a DAW with 4 track capability (Delta44) - I can get a good drum sound with 4...
yes....I would think that isolating the kit via blankets, baffles, etc. would help your situation immensely...
can't hurt to try, right? then if you're not getting the results you want you can move on to other techniques..
maybe I'm just confused:confused:
but...if you're taking an amp'd signal out of the head (speaker outs), why would you even need to involve a DI box? seems to me that you may be able to go direct into your recording device (whatever that may be)?
first step, IMHO, is to ensure that the drums that you are recording sound as good as they possibly can....new heads tuned properly can make a world of difference.
I like to record dry signals so that I have the most flexiibility at mixing stage; having said that - I've tracked drums with some...
what kind of tube did you put in it??? just curious as I have a bluetube and was considering swapping in a new tube..
and for the record...the solid-state portion of my bluetube is very quiet - it only gets real noisy when I dial in alot of tube...
I tend to stay away from my tube preamp on my overheads due to noise and those 'dark overtones' that you talk about.....I tend to lean towards a more 'accurate' preamp sound for the overheads.
a little tube works great on the kick, though
I have an AT kitpac...the kit is composed of 4 mics (2 snare/high tom; 2 kick/low tom) - the 'snare/high tom' mics sound like shit. the kick/low tom mics actually sound pretty decent. I've recently gotten an sm57 for my snare and when I A/B'd it against the AT snare mic - the 57 sounded light...
it is possible that the physical IDE controller on the motherboard has fried....
I had this happen with a computer a few years back....but it was my primary controller that went bad...so I couldn't even boot up!!
if this is the case, you could get a PCI IDE controller card and hook up your...
could be an IRQ conflict?? make sure that you're audio card isn't sharing an IRQ with something else....
there are quite a few other 'tweaks' for audio pcs that can help resolve popping&clicking issues - eg. disabling USB
here's a decent list...
just choose the non-premium audio 'onboard' sound option when configuring your 'puter and they'll (dell) give you a break on the price...then when you get the machine, disable onboard audio and install yer own!
by the way, thee delta 44 will BLOW that monteego card out of the water in regards...
hey tim
good stuff...I just have a couple of various comments...
unfortunately, I'm at work - so I can't turn it up and hear everything at a 'proper' volume
regardless, I really like the controlled mayhem of 'paxil rose' (brilliant name, by the way)
- absolutely love the growling bass sound...
first, it would probably help if you read the manual;)
I don't have a picture of the board or anything like that (and couldn't find a manual on the 'net), so I can't specifically tell you how to route individual channels to particular outputs. havine said that, there's probably some sort of...
