I've tweaked the plan a bit. I have no hard measurements at the moment as I'm just trying to get the basic layout of the studio going. I've changed the void area to be a possible entry/air lock for the live room. The doors would be 32" or 36". It'll just be for me so I don't really need to...
Michael,
I beleive that the yellow glue isn't recommended for exterior use. I know they make better suited for what you're using but the name escapes me at the moment. Have you considered "Liquid Nails".

I know I'll be using them a lot for overheads! I originally bought the 4033's for that task but my gut is telling me that the 81's will better suit me.
Well, I got some time off from work unexpected, which gave me an opportunity to spend a little of my hard earned cash. I was seriously contiplating the purchase of a higher end pre with this round but I opted not to at this point. What I did buy though is the Mackie 624's, 2 Shure SM81's, Sonar...
Chessrock,
The only problem with your assesment of MY situation is that at the moment, there are no rooms to speak of. The bulk of my studio is all tucked away in a 3x3 closet until THE STUDIO GETS BUILT! I'm trying to get what I need and then that's it! I'm not going to keep changing gear...
Missing a snare of HH isn't so bad! Especially for the non-musicians. It's when the timing is really off that even the most ignorant people can hear (or feel)! People on't listen for mistakes but when music (the beat) moves people, it's pretty obvious when it's off.
My question was not meant to be like many of the "other" ones. My question was actually to AVOID buying one as I think my Meek is already fine for my needs. Also, I should've said..."Assuming that my room is already tuned,...." :D Anyway, I'm defenitely not one to buy on a whim or on another...
I hope you're talking pure "sound quality". If not, you're sadly mistaken my friend. There's nothing worse than hearing a drummer with really bad timing and execution.

I did a search on the Presonus M-80 and I really didn't find a substantial amount of info. I'm trying to decided between getting the RNP (only one), or the M-80. I can get a terrific deal on the m-80 (around $800) and I know that the RNP is about $475.
I've heard nothing but great things about...
Anyone ever use and like Trident? I have a deal in front of me that I might not be able to pass up!? It's a dual channel pre from Trident at GC. Are they good? I'm not a price looker but the tag says $1499, which is not the price I would get it for.

Whenever I see a post about the Mackie 624's, everyone says to get the subwoofer. But whenever I read a post about the Yorkvilles, noone says anything about the subwoofer? The Mackie's woofer is a tad bit bigger then the Yorks, which would lead me to believe that the Mackies would have a better...
I've always liked the way an SM81 captures sound and I'm considering buying two. I already have (2) 603's, (4) Ecm8000's, (2) 4033's and (2) C3000B's for condensors to use in pairs for overheads etc...
With that in mind, would I benefit at all buying the SM81's or will it be a waste of money...
