    Logic Express?

yep they are nice however if you already have a pod and autotune they are more or less redundant. Can you wangle an educational discount ? If so Logic Pro becomes 500 bucks.

    Logic Express?

I think (and I may be wrong here) the major difference between the two is the plugins so the tutorial will tell you good things re. how the program is organized. Have a read of the description on amazon...

RME audio DIGI 96/8 PAD card

This is the beast http://www.rme-audio.com/english/digi96/digi96pa.htm http://www.samash.com/catalog/showitem.asp?ItemID=33483 It works equally well with Win Xp or OSX, I have used it with both. Why am I getting rid, well with two MOTU 828s it is just sitting gathering dust. It has very nice...

    Logic Express?

I use Logic Pro 7.2 which is a very cool bit of kit. The learning curve is steep but once you get used to it, it is no real problem. CSI do a series of "Cool School" tutorials (probably find them at Musiciansfriend). They are a bit dated (for Logic 6 I think) however if you are starting from...

Pod xt trade for mic or pre

This baby is in mint condition and has thee moddle packs installed. It also comes with the stand / mic stand attachment thing (No box but with original Pilot guide). Im interested in swapping it for a Mic / pre of equivalent value. New, the Pod xt is $299 and the packs come in at $100 for all...

    Just got a Variax!

cheers dude ! I didn't try to make the variax sound better or anything. I think a few people were quite pissed with the result ! After doing quite a lot of Jamming with it, it also appears that the Spank tones cut through a mix really nicely as well ! Wooohoo !

    Just got a Variax!

I don't know if you saw or are interested but I posted an A/B comparison of a strat, an LP and a variax no long ago in the guitar forum. Might be worth a look

    Just got a Variax!

yep, with some of the variax models, if you can get to the workbench computer prog. you can customize stuff. http://www.line6.com/variax/workbench.html Very cool ! I still haven't got the alternate tunings like "open A" or "drop D" to work properly but swapping PU and wiring schemes is pretty...

    Recording an enamble

Unfortunately this is out of my hands, Im still waiting to hear. It will either be in an old deconsecrated church (Im hopping I don't get hit by lightening) or a recital hall. In addition to the close miking, I was thinking of using the PG81s set up in ORTF config. as ambiants just to see what...

    Recording an enamble

Wise words and they are appreciated. I take your points, I will keep the variax at home and use a couple of C1000s on backing vox as a starter. I was figuring that this was only a starting point and that mics would get shuffled as required. I also thought that I'd overdub the vocals later...

    Recording an enamble

This is scaring me a bit. I have landed a gig recording a 5 or 6 piece ensemble a week today. Im used to doing rock however this is pretty new. At my disposal are: 2x MOTU 828s going into a G4 powerbook running Logic Pro7.2 Pres: 1 x Avalon vt737sp, 1 x Avalon U5, 1 x ART TPS, 1 x Focusrite...

    Musician's Friend

MF are great until they screw something up and then they are rubbish. I boycotted them for about three years after the mother of all fuckups on there part. Instead of an apology I had the mother of all fights to get a bloody refund ! Not fun. I still use em if they have a particularly good...
