    WANTED: Line 6 FBV Shortboard

Thanks. I knew that, but I'd prefer the Shortboard, so I didn't mention The FBC1010. Thanks anyway. Chris

    WANTED: Line 6 FBV Shortboard

I bought a POD XT recently. Now I am in need of the shortboard controller. I am willing to pay a reasonable price for one if it functions perfectly has no serious cosmetic damages. I may also be willing to trade. I don't have much, but if a trade sounds good to you we can discuss it. Let me...

    alesis sr16 into soundcard

you need a 1/4" male on one end to an 1/8" male on the other. Being as you're 1/8" input is possibly stereo, you may need (2) 1/4" mono males on one end to a stereo 1/8" male on the other. Radio shack or any online cable retailer should be able to accomodate you.

I want to get new Overheads...

SM81's will do but, I don't know how they'd compare to your current mics. Warhead may be on to something. You know, if you follow his advice you could have the two OH you already own plus 4 more to mix and match for a potentially awesome kit sound.

    Mesa Vs Tone

Jay, Could it be your technique? That has a lot to do with tone. Your setup seems pretty sufficient to me. I'd lose everything but the guitar, wireless system, and amp if it were me. You should be able to get awesome tones from that rig provided you know how and have decent chops.

    Behringer Shark DSP110 question

FORGET THE SHARK!! If anything it causes feedback. I bought one and used it one night during a band practice and it SUCKED!!! Sabine is a company to look into. They have much better gear for notching out problem frequencies. Sure they cost more but, you'll be shooting yourself in the foot...

Equipment needed to build a vocal studio

Harley, You're skipping stuff that you NEED in order to even record the source (vocals). You MUST ADD a preamp, and an audio interface to your setup or you're dead in the water. So, how about the Shure SM7b into a FMR RNP into a Audiophile 24/96 card and monitor with some used Alesis M1's...

Best mic pre for a manley gold mic

I'm going out on a limb here but, maybe a Manley pre would be the right choice for a Manley mic. I don't know though. I second SonicAlbert's suggestion. Or get in touch with the folks at Mercenary and ask them what they think.

Equipment needed to build a vocal studio

OK. Now that I know what you have and the budget, here's my suggestion. It will require you to save up some additional cash simply because good quality costs money. First, you need an Audiophile 24/96 card for your PC. $150 I think. Next, you need a Mytek ADC. $900 Then, you need a John...

Equipment needed to build a vocal studio

So, you're only recording vocals to prerecorded split tracks like accompaniment tracks???? No instruments or anything other than vocals?

    RA-100 Opinions????

I like mine a bunch. It's great in the studio powering monitors and it's powerful enough for PA use at something like a wedding reception or something for about 200 people.

those of you with day jobs

I won't detail my sob story... suffice it to say that 3 years ago I dove into recording with high hopes (while retaining a full-time job). Today 95% of my gear has been sold. What's left is in the garage gathering dust and spiders. And I never made a penny or the music I hoped to make. On a...

    Help please! on 20x35 room

Try this. NO parallel walls, bass traps in the corners, broad band absorbers at first reflection points, "cloud" above the mix position, etc. Purple lines are stud walls. the yellow tuff indicates rigid fiberglass. Any questions?

    Acoustic Purchase

The Dean Exotica is a fantastic guitar for $300. I leave it baking or freezing in the car all the time (depending on the season) and it's never more than a slight bit out of tune. I adjust it once, it holds for hours and hours afterward. It can take one heck of a beating and it sounds real...

Michael Kelly Patriot vs. Epi LP ???

Hey, The Michael Kelly Patriot has caught my eye but I want to know how they compare to Epiphone LP's in the same price range ($400) and if the MK's neck contour is more like a 50's gibson neck or the 60's slim taper gibson neck. I don't like necks that are too thick and/or rounded. I play an...

    Head phones

I went with a closed back headphone (the K270's Anomaly Design mentioned) because I wanted to keep bleed out. They worked pretty well in lower volume situations but when I cranked my amp, I could hear it coming through. Still it would've been much worse with semi open or open back phones. So...
