Please give me some feedback with this demo

I really enjoy this acoustic guitar, I like a little less pick, but hey, sounds great to me. I think it is a pretty cool song. Spend some time mixing it some more and see where you get.

    if this is true...

but why not just buy a 2 2'x4' panels and make a 4'x8'??? less shipping.

Anybody in an apartment have foam put up?

Foambymail is a weird company. I purchased 48 pieces of 2'' foam for 50$ (includes shipping). You do get what you pay for, meaning once i did a quick test on a piece, I wished I had boughten Auralex. After a week, I realized that I liked what it was doing for me. It is very cheap foam that cuts...

    if this is true...

Hahaha thats exactly what I am asking...I originally ordered 703 from them, but my last purchase was mineral wool.

    Making a small room "bigger"

your foam should be fine for what it is being used for. Id suggest instead of buying for stuff for highs and mids, that you just put it into more bass traps. As they will do the same thing wit hsuperior bass absorbtion

    floorplan

matress wont block it... I'd sday if you have another room put it in there, or take it down when mixing.

    Help needed with acoustic treatment!

If you are hearing bass problems you should invest in bass traps made of 703 rigid fiberglass, you'll hear a big difference and be pleased that you bought it. Makes life much easier knowing the bass frequencies are being tamed. Also if those are the bx8s, they sure do make my bx5as look tiny!

Technical aspects aside, what has building your studio taught you?

Yea i am finally starting too slow down my building process rushign is bad. My favorite thing about my studio so far is that it is a nice place to relax in and say "this is all mine." If it is in your home, it also makes for a great listenign area. I'd say being in a studio is the closest thing...

Trying to record distortion guitars is driving me crazy...

the behringer mixer u have isnt so bad for disorted guitars. I ran a sm57 through it t orecorded a Marshall valvestate and it sounded great. i jsut picked a cab speaker placed the mic at a 45 degree angle and whamo. Took a little bit of EQ from the mixer.

Advise on Floor to put in my new studio

I would think that you would still need bass traps, but who am i to say that.

    Control Room.

All I know is that I can't wait untill I get some extra bass absorbtion down here. My control room has more absorbtion that most control rooms, but that is becasue I am also using it for vocals. Hopefully my new set of panels will come in by Friday. I'll probably be bulding my frames this week.

To frame or not to frame (OC 703)...

I could be very wrong, but it seems like the monitor reflections off of the angled walls could cause problems. You're corner traps are good though!
  18. Shout It Out

    Control Room.

yea i think it is good to put bass absorbers on the back wall, some choose diffusion. I guess what they say is true. Once you buy some sound treatment u end up buying more and more. I think i am going to keep my front wall covered, but i am going to add 2 more bass traps. I guess I'm buying...

    Control Room.

My room is 14' wide and about 35' long. I had 6 2' x 4' panels of 703 and originally had them as 2 2'x4' bass traps and 2 2'x4' 2'' absorbers. Yesterday I changed them to be 2'x7' bass traps in my front 2 corners of the room. I also covered the whole front wall in 2'' foam. the side walls have...

    Favorite Recordings

A simple album that is nicely recorded is Green Day's Dookie. I also like the way some of the Strokes songs are recorded. A lot of the Flaming Lips' songs sound awesome. Incubus also has some great recordings. I'd agree that nickelback has some good recordings.
