    Cakewalk Bundle files in SONAR

HS2004 can definitely handle them: http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/FAQs/HS2004faq.html And my version of Sonar6 lists .BUN as one of the file types it can open. So ya, I'd say you're fine. (If you have an smallish BUN file you could email, I'd be happy to test it for you. PM me if you want to...

    Sidechaining in SONAR 6

http://www.db-audioware.com/dB-D-dynamics-processor-more.htm That's the only one I know of that offers sidechaining in Sonar (though I've never used it, so can't say for sure how well it works.) I have had limited success using Sidekick and Senderella, though I think both plugins use VST...

    Sonar 6 VS Cubase 4 - help!

Swords, here's an article about using Sonar for video production: http://www.videomaker.com/article/12728/ Also, it's a bit marketing department-ey, but the first video on this page shows Sonar 5 in action as a video production tool.

    Simple question

Albertm, have you tried compressing the project using Winzip or WinRAR? WinRAR specifically has a decent audio compression algorithm. Depending on the source material (WAV files with silent sections compress really well,) you might get the size under 700Mb.

    Exporting raw tracks

osiris, there are a few ways to accomplish what you want. The easiest is to use the <alt> key to select only the range you want exported. Notice the time ruler at the top of the track pane? It shows you (in brown, on my machine) what range is selected. I suspect you're selecting the clip you...

    Sonar crashing with Tascam 122

Which version of Sonar? Often, you can fix problems like this by removing your CAKEWALK.INI file. It's in the main SONAR directory. Try renaming it to CAKEWALK.INI.BAK, and restarting SONAR.

    Help... Hats too loud

Here's an old thread on a similar topic: https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=210934 The consensus in that thread is the same as in this one: Get the drummer to play the hats quieter. Studio performance is inherently different than live performance, and cymbal (& hi-hat) technique is...

Sonar 4 Dumbass Question. (envelopes automation)

Any chance you've routed the track through a mono bus? Track panning works differently when it's reduced to mono later in the signal chain.

Whats the best format to referance a mix?

Ethan's right (of course :)) In the vast majority of cases, dithering will be inaudible. It's basically low-level noise, so you only hear it when the audio level is really low, like at the tail end of fade-outs. (Read Izotope's great dithering guide for details...

    Converting Audio to Midi (Drums)

Forgive the self-link, but you might find what you need here: http://www.hometracked.com/2006/04/29/free-drum-replacers/ KTDrumTrigger, in particular, is a great tool for "midi-fying" a drum beat.

    using scrubbing in the mix

Two free VST plugs that you can probably re-purpose: Scratchdown and SloweR I think they're both Windows-only, though. If you need Mac or Linux, you might find something else on this page: http://www.audiomastermind.com/browse-pitch_spectrum_shifters-5887014-1.html (You know you could also...

    Wharfedale Diamond Pro Monitors

I think the same goes for Canada, too. I had an issue with my tweeter, and getting the replacement was as simple as 1) contacting my dealer (Thanks Deepwater!!!) 2) signing for the package three days later. I'm not trying to fan any flames, but I love my Wharfedales, and even with the...

how do you blend electric guitar and bass

Did you mean 320 and 640? And something I've never understood: would subtractive EQ at those specific frequencies have a different effect on a song keyed in E (where those frequencies are the fundamentals), than one keyed in, say, Bb?

    Fender J-bass tone control

What does the master tone control on a J-bass actually do? I can hear its effect acoustically, but I'm curious what's going on electrically. Is it a simple fader between the mid and bridge pickups? Or is it altering the tone of the mixed signal?

    US 224 'whine' noise

My US224 has started generating a 'whine'. It's the weirdest thing: it only happens when I run software that generates sound. Sonar mostly, though it's also present when I play a file with WMP or Winamp. Some other perplexing details: - The pitch of the whine seems to be exactly 1Khz. (Maybe...
