So, if I wanted say, a five second space between songs, disc-at-once would ignore that command?

    Disc At Once

I'm new to burning cds so work with me on this one . . . What is "Disc-at-once" ? It's an option on my burner software. What does it do and how does it benefit me, a guy burning audio cds? The manual is so cryptic on this issue that I can't make out what they're trying to say. Simple terms would...

    dbx Noise-Reduction

Like I said on the RW BBS, I've used dbx for years without a problem with low end. Maybe I just don't have the ears to hear the problems, it's always sounded good to me! [This message has been edited by Matt (edited 09-05-1999).]

    CD Burner Write Times

Well, I have yet to burn a coaster. I just noticed that I can burn a cd in half the time when I choose 4x over 2x. They sound the same at both speeds. I'm a bit new to this . . .

    CD Burner Write Times

My burner software has a box where I can choose 1x 2x or 4x write speeds. Will there be less of a chance for errors at a slower speed?

    Bellari La120 Any Good?

Yes, the Bellari LA120 is a fine compressor. I would only use it on vocals, though. It's limited control makes it hard to use effectivly with other instruments. [This message has been edited by Matt (edited 08-13-1999).]

    By musicians, for musicians...

I have never personally had a recording contract so I don't know how much the record companies screw you. Obviously most of you have had contracts in the past that went painfully bad. I would hate to think of anyone posting mere opinons as absolute fact. IMHO there's way too much JUNK on MP3.COM...

    No it doesn't.

I think it's dandy idea. A server in your bedroom about home recording, that's mostly done in bedrooms,is just plain poetic!

    CD-R or MiniDisc recorder?

Thanks for the added info! So the regular stereo MDs are compressed, too?
  17. M

    CD-R or MiniDisc recorder?

I think it does only when you're using the data MD for multitrack recording. The regular stereo MD (I think) doesn't use data compression.

    CD-R or MiniDisc recorder?

Well, whatever. Just sharing an opinion. I know MD isn't the best of the best but it does do the job for people who don't have their computer and recording studio in the same spot. It's also good for people who (gasp!) still record in analog and want a digital mixdown. Yes, yes, yes, I know...

    CD-R or MiniDisc recorder?

I mixdown to a Sony MD and It sounds great!

    what do you use?

I use a Big Muff into a Vibro-Thang into a Dan-Echo into a Cool Cat into a Comp/Sustainer into a Vox amp miked with a SM57. This line gives me all the noise I could ever want. [This message has been edited by Matt (edited 07-06-1999).]
