Top 6 Real Reverbs You Have to Try

that's a good idea, it's also much safer than mic rental.

    [Indie] - In your Dreams

it suffers from midrange boxyness, everything does, not just the acoustic guitar, EQ should help, I like the songwriting and also the reverb, the snare is very weak though, just too dark, same with the kick, it's clashing with the bass guitar.

    Ready to go - Mix

the synth with tremolo is too loud, it makes it distracting to me, try turning it down only when you sing, it will make your vocals more upfront and present, it feels like everything is in the centre as well, there's not much width or panning going on, it's almost mono sounding in fact, which is...

    "Stay"

I think it sounds really good in the low end, well balanced mix, sounds good loud and quiet.

When You're Bad - Joe Johnstun

I feel the same way too, because there's no gaps in the singing, it's as if the music is secondary.

    Is this mix too compressed?

much better, sounds more 'pinched' in the midrange, which is what I'd expect for metal, it lacks a bit of extreme high end though, but definitely the best mix so far.

    Learning to Record Vocals

A couple of things. Try recording and getting a take you are happy with, with no EQ and no compression, move the mic around instead of reaching for EQ, the mic can be used like an EQ depending on where it is. Once you get the best possible sound you can get with your vocals then it's time to...

    Is this audition autotuned?

your intuition is spot on, it's been messed around with, the vibrato is not natural and has been altered with either melodye or autotune, that's the truth.

    Soulful rock ballad

It's a great vocal performance, and love the rhythm guitars, it's a little dry though, I'd like to hear a bit more reverb on the snare, I don't agree about the lead guitar being 'anti climatic' though at all, it works for me. I think a bit of automation on the vocals and other elements would...

    Is this audition autotuned?

it's without doubt tuned in, sounds like melodyne to me from that weird vibrato with compression artifacts.

    Mix critique needed....new song

that vocal sound is too bright, sounds like you've used some kind of 'exciter' on it, I would back it off a bit remove the harshness with EQ, then compress it a bit more.

returning with a couple of new tracks for your critique

it was nice to hear distorted drums in bald spot, it's a bit like Hendrix from 1967, found it quite amusing too, like the bold production and tape like sound overall, my main concern with it is the low end being too muddy and it feels like the extreme high end is cut off a bit and could be more...

When You're Bad - Joe Johnstun

there's no gaps in the singing, that's my main critisism with it, mix is ok, but not perfect, the main thing that stands out is the bass drum has a weird frequency sticking out in the low mids and midrange that is masking everything else, hope that helps.

it has a 3dB crest factor... it is insanely loud https://www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep11/articles/loudness.htm

    TFAC Test Mix

when the distorted guitar comes in it seems ridiculously loud, way too loud in the mix, and agree with idol1957 about the intonation, the drums and bass seem quiet, very quiet, playing and content is fine though.

    mkt_-_hold_you

The bass drum is possibly a bit too forward and it has too much midrange in my opinion, the high pass filters are quite extreme in the intro and breakdown bits, it could do with warming up in those sections and feels like it's missing the bottom octave, considering though it's a very good effort...

Stuck on this mix. Melodic hard rock ep

I think the snare is too compressed, it feels like it's being turned down too much in parts, I'm guessing from a limiter on the master bus, the cymbals are a bit over processed as well, try turning down the ratio on the compressor a bit or using parallel compression instead.

    Mono or stereo field recoding

in the mixing stage, you simply pan the fig 8 mic hard left and then duplicate it and reverse the phase on the duplicate track and pan it hard right, that's the S in M/S sorted, then you just mix mids and sides until you are happy.
