    Which Room to Choose?

I tend to prefer live sounding rooms for recording acoustic guitars and dead sounding rooms for vocals, you could use the two rooms to your advantage! let us know how it goes.

    Mastering in MONO mode?

I am not too bothered about mono thesedays, it used to really worry me, now I don't care too much as long as things aren't 'lost' when summed to mono.

    Mixing Backing Vocals/Harmony

concentrate on balance more than anything else, EQ and compression for me always comes after getting the balance right with vocal harmonies.

Narration Only: I sound too snarly (maybe evil) - not good for sonnets

I think in the example you showed us, you are being over critical, your voice is fine. It just needs some EQ to improve the clarity, I'd take out some of the low mids and boost 2.5k, you could also try moving away from the mic, this will help massively, it sounds to me like you might be too...

"Game Over" - a lost classic rescued.

that's a great re-creation of an old track, I think yours sounds miles better than the original, much cleaner and clearer in every way, also preferred the new vocals.

    Neumann TLM 102

yes they are great microphones, nothing short of amazing for the price point, I tried one out the other day and might prefer it to my TLM103, you should try the tlm102 on saxophone, it is amazing for that.

    Mono Mix (further understanding)

I have found mono works well for setting the balance, but like everyone is saying it's not that important anymore, it's just a tool for helping you hear issues, and you don't necessarily need an auratone or mixcube either, I just sum it to mono and listen on one speaker, the 'grot box' speakers...

    MXL 990 Good mic?

I think they are good mics (the old ones) one of my friend has an early one and it sounds pretty good, he uses it for vocals and it suits his voice well, I remember it sounding good on acoustic guitar as well.

Acoustic, Folky, Orchestral - See Your Face

A couple of things stand out to me, the 'boom' of the snare sound is a bit loud, like those harmonies a lot though, it's an interesting song and arrangement, strings are a bit too loud as well.

    Compressor use

I think there's a universal audio interface that can do recording on the way in using their plug-in's, luckily for me I use my elysia xpressor 500 for that.

    Mix My Wedding Song?

can you explain the weird volume changes on the canon in D track? it goes up and down a lot in volume, like it's been edited in a very cut and paste way, apart from that it's fine, I like the vocals a lot.

    Mix My Wedding Song?

I'll give it a go, thanks.

    Is this recording loud enough?

if you want it be louder, the most natural way to do it and my personal favourite method is using parallel compression, especially with acoustic guitars and acoustic music, it doesn't squash the peaks and keeps the transients in place, whilst making the perceived volume louder.

How did they get the "Heart is a Drum" (Beck) sound?

the drums sound like they were recorded with minimal mic techniques, probably using 4 mics at a guess, sounds like ribbon mics, it's certainly a dark sound and mellow, could even be recorded to tape, there isn't much high end there. At a guess the acoustic guitar sounds like an sm57, it doesn't...

How To Rip Vocals And Add It to My Mix

you can't legally use something that's copyrighted, especially if you are planning on releasing the track. If someone has leaked the tracks, you still can't use it, not even under "fair use". You need written permission from the artist themselves, or their team of lawyers, managers and...

Show me that these tracks are mixable !

if anything, it was the singing for me that was the biggest problem, make sure your timing is much tighter, the biggest problem is the whole band aren't in time with each other.
