What is the life of acoustic foam?

where's the scientific evidence that rockwool is a known irritant? lol

Superdomestique - Working towards a final mix

good to hear that, I am using Cubase 8 Pro so would need audio files that include silence from start to finish ideally all bone dry with no fx added to anything and 24 bit WAV, do not worry about too many tracks, my machine is a beast, will PM you about it, just gonna be busy over the next few...

    Vintage studio, midi, software, macintosh

better off with an ipad and cubasis, seriously, we're in 2018 and it'd be cheaper. I don't understand the nostalgia, I was around back then and would never want to go back, the only good thing about it was no internet and less distractions...things got done.

    pitch correction help

nothing you can do to correct it I'm afraid, except perform it again in tune. If you tried to correct it you'd have ambience that was a semitone out from the corrected pitch which would probably sound even worse than doing nothing.

What is the life of acoustic foam?

rockwool is completely harmless, you are being really silly, it's protected by cotton fabric wrapped around it in a wooden frame, the fibres can't go anywhere! you can simply spray it with adhesive glue if it really bothers you. Rockwool has passed a lot of ridiculously high standard health and...

What is the life of acoustic foam?

correct, foam does absorb, but it only has a very limited frequency range, in music reproduction we want to have a balanced spectrum.

    Another bloody preamp thread

off topic but my neve 511 portico preamp isn't even close to 10 on that chart, it's more like 6-7, the portico series have less colour than the 1073 or shelford range, which definitely are close to 10, the chart isn't an accurate representation of reality because colour is subjective to each...

What is the life of acoustic foam?

foam does absolutely nothing to block or stop standing waves, it's physically impossible, you need multi-layer multi-density materials for that, for example a lead lined MDF and ply door that weighs over 100 KG will work. You are better off with using rockwool or owens corning if you in the USA...

Superdomestique - Working towards a final mix

musically this is an interesting track, would you be prepared to send me the stems so I can mix it for you? even better if you had the individual tracks, the snare needs more weight there's lots of ways I could improve it, obviously this requires a lot of trust from you but I'm willing to give...

    Another bloody preamp thread

have you considered getting some 500 series units? they are good, worth it and you get a LOT of choice including adding hardware EQs and compressors as well as mic pres.

    Prince's Recording Method?

it's quite simple, he was a genius, nothing to do with the gear he used, there's no secret methods he used, living and renting sunset sound studios for years on end might have helped slightly though but he was unique, you'd have to ask engineers who worked with him who are still living.

Upgrading to new PC..how to reuse some existing gear?

the quality of the AD/DA is the main thing, there is a noticable difference, it sounds clearer, more natural, bigger, wider e.t.c. the hallmarks of higher end converters, all of this is subjective though.

Upgrading to new PC..how to reuse some existing gear?

I wasn't doing anything wrong with it, yes it is still a good PCI interface but the audient as I said if far superior and for me way more convenient, I used the Audiophile 192 for over a decade before upgrading.

Upgrading to new PC..how to reuse some existing gear?

I'd get something like an audient interfeace and ditch the preamp and mixer, I used to have an m-audio 192 for many years, and I didn't realise how bad it was until getting an audient iD22, I've not had any latency or quality issues since getting it, the AD/DA converters and preamps are superb...

which mix do you prefer and why
