Tascam M-30 and Tascam 34: How do I dub vinyl records to tape with these?

Here is a checklist for connections and switch positions. I don't think I've missed anything. You may find these useful to note your M-30 settings, designed to sit below the meters, I use them with my M-30.

Tascam M-30 and Tascam 34: How do I dub vinyl records to tape with these?

There are four "Record Select" buttons above the channel 1 VU meter. you have to select the channels you want to record on by pressing the appropriate button, the relevant LEDs should light up. You can then record by pressing the transport's Record and play buttons simultaneously. Here is...

    Tascam M30 Phono In

To use the phono amps, (there are two stereo pairs) on the M-30, the outputs have to be patched to the channel strip line-ins as they are isolated from the busses.

    Tascam M30 Phono In

Hi, This is a duplicate of my reply to your other thread in the analog section You have to connect the output from the phono sections to the line inputs on the main channel strips, So to use one stereo record player you have to use two channels, (for example, channel 1 for left & channel 2...

Tascam M30 phono input but no EQ

Hi, You have to connect the output from the phono sections to the line inputs on the main channel strips, So to use one stereo record player you have to use two channels, (for example, channel 1 for left & channel 2 for right). That way you can use the EQ controls, the phono amps just have RIAA...

    Tascam PA-20 mkII

Hi Dave Thanks for the link, it is a safe sight. I have that file, it's just a two page user guide, (see pdf, no schematic). If I trip the relay with a 9v battery I get clean sound out of the speakers. Photo attached of internals. Michael

    Tascam PA-20 mkII

Hi, Anyone familiar with the PA-20 mkII? I have one which has a fault, on the power up the speaker relay does not trip in, I have tested the relay with a battery, and it pulls in no problem. Does anyone have a schematic? I can't any schematics online anywhere.

Tascam M-30 mixer - problem with submix panning

You're welcome, happy to help. I scanned it back 2014 and uploaded it for I think, someone on Tapeheads. The foldout pages were scanned in sections and then joined together in Photoshop Elements and printed to "pdf" via "CutePDF" print driver to European A3. The normal pages where scanned...

Tascam 38 - tape rubbing reel flanges

Are the reel motors mounted correctly? To be honest, I can't really see that happening as other things are attached to the frames. Another alternative could be that deck faceplate is not is not seated correctly or distorted.

    Tascam 38 transport weirdness

When you removed the front panel, did you disconnect the plug and socket on the flexible cable that links the keyboard to the Control PCB? I have a Tascam 34 on that the plug and socket is shown on "Exploded View 2" as items numbered 6 & 7. I don't think this is possible or likely. but If so...

Are you using the "Assign" buttons on the channel strips to route the inputs to the four output channels? Also make sure that the "Mute" buttons on the channel strips are in the up position.

    Tascam 22-2 issues

The small rubber buffer is a shock asorber for the tension arm. On my X-1000R the buffer had disintegrated, I replaced the a piece of self-adhesive 10mm thick neoprene. The string with the spring which goes around the black drum is a damper, which prevents the tension arms bouncing when the...

Tascam M30 (moded?!) and jumper issues

When I bought my M-30 back in the 80's channels 7 & 8 were ¼'' jack for high impedance microphones. Apparently, there was a conversion kit available for converting to low impedance balanced. From what I read, it included an impedance matching transformer, but I don't know what else. The...
