Hear room reverb in cans but not in nearfields

It apears that your mix room has a verb of it's own that is masking you hearing the verb in the speakers. Definitely add the extra 3" Rockwool absorption for the ceiling. You may need more than that. cheers john

Curse of the Pharaohs!!! (and a question for John)

AH - OZ those pics of Sonar are deceptive. It was len's idea to cover the plywood with cloth cos he liked the look - it's only thin cloth over plywood. Otherwise it's to plan. cheers john

Curse of the Pharaohs!!! (and a question for John)

No - this is not my design - My design would be to have a layer of plywood covered with a second layer of timber as a finish. That's what left bank was - in the pics you see the plywood before the veenered finish was applied. (Must get a photo of that as it looks cool ;) ) cheers John

    Balanced XLR to Balanced 1/4"...

Mate - if you really want to do it properly - well like my techo does it - solder a green wire to the shield and then wrap it in heat shrink. The you have a red, black and green wire to solder - much neater, and more reliable. cheers john

    Another Question about soffits!

Are yes - I noticed it in the shot at your site, leave it open - the soffit is only the front panel really isn't it? The box is for rigidity. see my other answer regarding above and below the speakers in your other post. :) cheers JOhn

caretaker 9 - make sure you make the shield the shortest length so if someone pulls on the cable the strain is on the shield. cheers john

    Requesting advice on my design

yes but you can delete the rear door in the control room and use the studio door as the entrance. This will allow you to treat the rear wall of the control room heavily which is good in such a small room. Instead of a sliding door why not use a glass door/window combination. cheers john

    Floating floor question

Niz - the rubber/carpet will do the isolation - I'd use the car seat stuff - which I assume is dacron - for other wall treatment. cheers john

    Requesting advice on my design

Sliding doors would work but they are expensive. If buget is a problem I'd just put in a double glazed window. cheers john

    Requesting advice on my design

I wouldn't bother with the left wall being angled - I'd do the top wall instead. cheers john

How do I add Pictures and Captions to WMA files?

Mark - you can do it with Macromedia Flash and create a .swf file. The .swf file will also stream if you want it to. BTW my version of SF says this Attach video to an audio file Open the audio file you want to use. From the File menu, choose Properties. In the Properties dialog, select the...

    First Adventure into Room Treatment

Chris - firstly - Dave Moulton is ONE idea about control room design - He's saying that the sound that goes to the rear should reflect back at you  I say it definitely shouldn't unless your rear wall is over 9 ft from you - in other words it works for large rooms (in a way) but won't work...
