    Why

Sonixx - I hear what you are saying - it's due to the fact that a bigger room has longer and weaker 1st reflections coming back at the listener so your speakers and the room sound better BUT if a smaller room is properly treated it can sound just as good. Having a separate recording room has a...

    Vocal Recording Options

solit - I'd treat the bedroom. If your bedroom is properly treated not only will your vocals sound better but so will your recordings and mixes. cheers john

Help me doing a better layout...

Flash - the keyboard on on a sliding panel, the console is fixed. It allows you to slide the keyboard under the console when you are mixing or overdubbing guitars etc. If you place them both central in the room then you will hear a symmetrical stereo image from the speakers when mixing which...

    Soffit Mounting Monitor 2's????

Pick Man - I've soffit mounted a lot of different speakers. The only time it didn't work was with a pair of JBLs - model before the LSRs and designed to be free standing or hanging off a wall mounted bracket - it had a huge bass lift to compensate for the free standing that really mucked it up...

Help me plan my space, a new approach

well - if you are in Toronto and it's in your basement, and you typically only have a 7 ft+ ceiling height , perhaps you should show us where the HVAC ducts are, their sizes and their heights from the floor - they control everything. Also are there jackposts running through the middle...

    soundlock treatment

The idea of a sound lock is to isolate two rooms from each other. One door is the door frame for the 1st room - the other door is the door frame for the 2nd room. These two frames should not touch each other - i.e. they are decoupled. So the internal lining that joins the two door frames should...

    Soffit Mounting Monitor 2's????

I worked with the 4311s and the 4315 that came out later - they soffit mount really well as do the 813s. Worked with the 813s for a few years too - liked them also. Nothing wrong with the DC300 either, prefer the Bryston though. :):) Above 1000 you can do a lot better nowadays though. cheers john

It makes the washer/dryer area tight - Why not get in a plumber and ask him to shift the washer to left of the sink and mount the dryer above it on the wall. Then you can use the whole area for your studio area. cheers john
