Strat Neck Setup and "Warp" Help

It's not that folks here don't know anything, it's that a problem like you are describing is impossible to accurately diagnose without having the guitar in one's hands. Take it to a pro.

One of the great things about playing music is that as long as you keep playing, you keep learning.

HELP NEEDED: Tube Amp too quiet?

And putzing around in the guts of the amp may void it. Take it to the doctor. One thing a tech can do is put a dummy load on the amp and monitor its output to see what it is doing. Have you tried connecting it to other speakers? A shorted voice coil will dump a lot of the amp's power.

    Fuses

From that site: "Preamp tubes are not high voltage like power or rectifier tubes and will not cause a fuse to blow." Not so; preamp tubes are connected to the high voltage supply as well. Reference: http://www.schematicheaven.com/fender.htm In a Fender Super AB763, for example, the power amp...

Fixing dings in solid body guitars

I have a desert gold Bongo bass. I've nicked the finish in a couple of places running into cymbals with the headstock. An orange Sharpie makes the dings virtually invisible.

    Real difference b/w MIA/MIM Fenders

Not always. There are some really expensive cheap pieces of $#!t out there.

    Super clean speaker for guitar?

Oops; you are correct, sir! I know the difference but apparently my fingers forgot to check in with what's left of my brain. It's still very crisp and heavy, though. :D

    Super clean speaker for guitar?

I have an Altec K130 in my Deluxe Reverb; it's very clean and crisp, but a 412 cab loaded with them would be hideously expensive and take a fork lift to move.

    Music Man help?

You should definitely have the amp looked at by a competent tech before you spend big bux on new tubes.

    Music Man help?

The half power switch on an amp with four power tubes usually takes one pair of tubes off line; it doesn't do anything with the power supply transformer. The power supply filter caps may indeed need changing, but I don't see how these caps could be causing the problem he is describing. If one...

    Guitar grounding issue?

And sometimes different circuits/outlets are problematic because the hot leg of the 120VAC in one outlet is from the other leg of the 240VAC supply from the other outlet. I run my whole studio from a single home run circuit I had installed when we built the house.

    Silly Ampeg 810 question.

You might just try turning everything down and asking the drummer to ease off on his volume at rehearsals. Your ears will saturate at some volume level and hearing anything with any definition is impossible. It is possible that musicians' acoustically flat earplugs could help you hear better...

    Real difference b/w MIA/MIM Fenders

No offense intended; didn't you see the "may" in what I posted? It was in response to the claim of substandard pickups on a MIJ Mustang someone else made. I was proposing a possible reason for it. I also said that I thought the differences were subjective. Aren't the MIJ and MIM Fender less...

    Real difference b/w MIA/MIM Fenders

A MIJ Mustang may be a worst case scenario. It's a budget version of a budget guitar.

    Stupid bass pickup question, but...

The obvious thing that comes to mind is if you liked the old p'ups better, why don't you just switch back? Don't worry about which ones are supposed to be better or who uses them on what. Go with what sounds better to you.

    Real difference b/w MIA/MIM Fenders

Like I said, it's subjective, and logic probably had nothing to do with it. There are folks who actually prefer the MIM Strats over the MIA ones. I wasn't accusing you of trying to pass it off as a MIA Strat, but did you say that it was a MIM in your posting? Doing that might avoid the kind...

    Real difference b/w MIA/MIM Fenders

It's all subjective, but the selling price of a MIM Strat will usually be less than a MIA one. But really, the most important thing is full disclosure; post it as a MIM Strat up front and ask a fair price for what it is. There are plenty of folks who love MIM Strats.

    Silly Ampeg 810 question.

Are you sure about that? I have an MTI era SVT with dual 4-10's, and I'm pretty sure that all the speaker jacks (two on the amp and two on each cab) are all in parallel. I don't think it makes a difference to the impedances involved whether you connect both cabs directly to the head or daisy...
