    it's interesting that you say that about the middle tom...my high tom has been the one that has been kind of aggravating to my ear...but, that is why i put it out there..other ears help! regarding the kick... funnything is i just tuned up yesterday and i totally agree...was going to tune back...

    d112 on bass, sm57's on all except the 14" tom...got a atmpro25 on that...the overheads are mxl 603's.

    depends on gig...when there is plenty of room 22kick 10, 12, 14 tom 14 snare double kick pedal 2 crash, 1 splash, 1 china, hi-hat, ride if there is not plenty of room 22 kick 14 snare double pedal 1 crash, 1 splash, ride, hi hat. the smaller kit sho nuf easier to set up and break down! both...
