    question***

You need a multichannel soundcard to transfer the audio from each track within Audition to each channel of the mixer.

    Syntrillium Red Rover Remote Controller

Another option if you have a laptop is to use that as a remote on a simple wireless network using the Windows Remote Desktop service.

does cool edit support vst plug ins?

It's a long time since I used a wrapper but I'm sure if you download one from the Spinaudio site - if they still have it there - it would come with installation and use instructions. The wrapper converts the vst effect to a dx effect and then you see it in the dx effect menu in Cool Edit.

    Vocal Cut resulting in mono

You might wish to try the evaluation download of Audition 1.5 to see whether the Centre Channel Extractor effect is worthwhile for your purposes - if so, you could find out whether you would be eligible for an education discount on purchase.

    Preroll

From the manual:- To punch into a range of a clip: 1. In the track display, select the range of the clip. 2. Choose Edit > Punch In. 3. Position the current-time indicator a few seconds prior to the selected range. 4. In the Transport Controls window, click the Record button Record...

    Vocal Cut resulting in mono

The result is mono, and you can't fix it. You need the centre channel extractor in Audition 1.5 to do the job any better (and even then it will never be perfect - you can't uncook a cake).

    Audition 1.5 and Virtual instruments

If you use a program like VSTHost, which will record a VSTi, you can play with Audition and record with the host, then insert into Audition. Not hard to do, albeit slightly tedious process.

    Preroll

But the word to look up is "punch" rather than preroll, I'd say.

    Help Me Setup

All of these thigs are simply tools for tasks. You have given no indication of the task you are trying to undertake, so it's impossible to answer your seemingly simple question!

    Noise Floor

I'm afraid that the Samson usb mic is seriously noisy - a friend has one and was very disappointed. But admittedly that's comparing it with proper condenser mics, which it isn't - it's got an electret-type capsule which is always going to be noisier than a real condenser capsule.

    using laptop for HD recording

I use an HP nx8220 for up to 16 tracks at a time of live recording, but I wouldn't dream of using it's own soundcard for anything. (I use a Moto Traveler).

Er... glad to have helped, though my presence here lately has been limited by pressure of work - not by lack of enthusiam for this community!

Whats the difference between 2.0 and 2.1

CEP2.1 was for most people more stable, that much I remember. But both are way behind current versions (of Audition). I guess you can only now upgrade 2.0 to 2.1 via an eBay purchase, hopefully not dodgy.

    MID to MP3?

You've got to record the audio output of whatever renders the midi data into sound - the output of your soundcard? - and then save it as an mp3. You may need to physically connect the output of the card to the input, or use a record setting of "wave mix" or "what u hear" in the windows mixer.

    Mixer / Monitor Solution

I'm not sure I follow the question. The firepod will hopefully come with its own mixer app and an appropriate driver - so long as it isn't Asio-only, it should be fine with Audition. But maybe someone actually using one will come along.

need help recording with adobe audition

Two quick points - try "mixing tutorial" as a search term in Google (no quotes). And sorry, Audition does not allow you to hear effects as you record.
  18. O

anyway to make mixdowns in realtime instead of accelerated?

The card doesn't do the mixdown - the PC does - it wouldn't care if the card wasn't there. So the problem must lie elsewhere. You can however capture a mixdown using Total Recorder - you may find it will even do it in faster than real time too.

Can I add plugins that end with .dll into Audition?

I tried the "Exciter" effect and found that it appeared in Audition under the name of "Container - Synthedit" - and it failed to work (or so it seemed). I believe that's not uncommon with Synthedit-created effects and Audition.

Can I add plugins that end with .dll into Audition?

Audition 1.5 supports VST plugins - well, most - but not VSTi instruments. You can create your own VST folder and add it to the list of those that Audition scans, if you wish. Unsupported plugins will often appear in the 'unsupported' list, but not always. What plugins are you trying to use?
