Using a MXL 990 to record kick drum

Can you use an MXL 990 to record a kick drum? Yes....Will it sound good?....No.

The guitars sound even better. I think that you've nailed the tone. As for the levels, the kick and snare seem to be dominating everything else in the mix.

Dressed To Kill was a frequent flyer on my turntable in the 1970s. The amount of gain seems fine to me...but the guitars are not loud enough... vocals as well. The drums are a bit too beefy if you are trying to copy the original song from 1975.

Yes we know how Angus gets killer guitar tones, but getting Mutt Lange to come to Rami's house could be quite problematic. :D

Both of those tones blend really well together. I'd just be guessing as to which is which but I like the right tone a little better because it's a bit less fizzy. Nice job.

I have done it 2 ways: The first way is with a 16 ohm 200 watt dummy load resistor wired to a 1/4 jack. I run the amps speaker out into the dummy load. Then from a parallel speaker out I run a Behringer Ultra-G DI box into the interface via xlr cable. RES16-200 Resistor Behringer Ultra-G GI100...

Wow Minerman! Thanks for taking time to do those clips and screen shots. I always hated the older versions of Amplitube but AT4 sounds so much better. Sometimes I like to record a real 100 watt amp with a DI box and a dummy load and then run that into a speaker sim. Does AT4 let you shut off the...

Nice job Minerman! I've been wanting to hear some AT4 clips from a trustworthy source. I just don't trust clips/videos made by corporations. If you get bored I'd love to hear some clips of a JCM 800 and the Red Pig played through a checkerboard 4x12 with G12H and G12-65 speakers.

The guitars sound flat because they need some air/space. Just a hint of delayed room reverb would work wonders.

I think that you mean Chanute KS. I have 2 Ross flangers. One is an MIA [red] and the other is an MIT[black]. As far as I know the MIA flangers have a red case, and the MIT flangers have a black case. Since both flangers in the picture are red they should both be MIA.

I'm sure after he replaces the pots, pickups, switch, and nut, and has a fret job done it will play ok.

Ibanez SC10: perfect chorus for me, save for the slight distortion it ads. Solutions?

I agree. IMO You would be hard pressed to find another chorus pedal at any price point that produces the cheesy, distorted, ass-like tones of the SC10.

Sourcing Ibanez JEM Wizard Neck in the UK

Unless you can find one on ebay, I'm pretty confident that you will not be able to get an authentic Jem neck. Getting someone to build a replacement is your best option.

    Rane Ge 30 garphic EQ?

I had 2 of those that I tried to use on my PA and they always seemed to suck the life right out of the music.

Little help on sound signals distribution

The solution that you are describing is the 4 aux mixer and the headphone amps that you have set up now. Adding extra gear will not change the fact that you have to take a few minutes and adjust the mix for each person.
