How To SoundProof a Door ?

This is just a question based on what I thought I had heard. Wouldn't a hollow core door just act as a large resonating box actually making the sound louder in either direction, and tampering with your natural acoustics if nothing else? Ben

    Home studio building

Only some. Not saying it won't help, but it is nearly impossible to have a correct live and dead sound in a control room that size. You would basically have to absorb all sound in it, and make it completely dead to my understanding. This will cause you to add to much reverb or effects to your...

    Home studio building

You are going to have quite the time trying to properly mix in there, no matter how much absorption you try to cram in. Good luck! Ben

    Home studio building

Well if you are doing building two rooms inside one it will still cost you. If you literally JUST build a wall to separate the room into two all you will have done is lost the ability to see your clients, this will not properly isolate the rooms and is will just waste money, space, and...

    Home studio building

Well you mentioned that you could wait and do it on the 4th floor. What is your option there? Also, you said that you thought it would cost more, but to do it right you would have to spend a lot in the other room too. Its best to do this right. What are your options. Ben

    My control room

I'm not fully sure, but I think he is trying to tell you that just because your material is good at 125Hz doesn't mean its gonna be good at 80Hz unless it says its good there. Ben

    ATS Acoustics

It seems to me that they are just OC 703 or mineral wool wrapped in fabric, selling for $40. Well I could make one of those for $2. Sounds like a rip to me.

    studio table/desk

Or you could just get a nice solid piece of wood rather than a door... I don't know why Door was suggested in the first place. Tables are usually made out of normal lumber yard wood, not a pre-cut door for an entirely different use, am I wrong? Ben

    recording jazz

Keep it clean in my opinion. Its more about how good the players are together, than how good you can make them sound. Ben

Audix D6 Vs. Shure Beta 52 Poll

Hmm, well I can name quite a few people on this board who either have experience with both or actually own both. Although most do not, since most here are new looking for help, there are those who can give an honest opinion. So how about the ones who can't, just don't. Ben

Audix D6 Vs. Shure Beta 52 Poll

I've worked with both, separately and and together. I actually have gotten my best possible results out of a kick drum from both together. The D6 is rather aggressive in the upper mid range giving a perfect push-click. I'd rather own both, but the D6 is the preferred one. Ben

Is there any such thing as "Best"?

I have a strong feeling that most people on here are going to say no, because it all has to do with the situation... or something else. Well I have not tried every single piece of recording equipment in the world, so I guess the honest answer from me and other people who share that from me...

    Apartment Building.. Better Acoustics?!?

Are your ceilings 8' high? If so I'd say space 2" OC 703 or 705 4" down from the ceiling. Or build some of the Ethan Winer traps up there. Might be costly but If your room sounds this good already, then you will be set. Man I wish I had hardwood floors! Lucky! Ben
