    New Cover (Jimmy69, Steenamaroo, polarity)

Thanks TripleM. With the help of these guys I'm getting a bit more confident in my performance. Jimmy and Steeno have been amazing in working with me to help me figure out what I'm doing (or not doing) and helping me get past me irrational fear of letting people hear me singing.

    New Cover (Jimmy69, Steenamaroo, polarity)

I was told initially that the string sounds, he couldn't find a string so he did an oboe then drowned it in reverb and it gave it a string sound. Apparently somewhere in there though he found an actual stringed instrument and replaced it. I was thinking it was still the oboe but it wasn't.

That was actually my left breast implant popping. Thanks for making me relive it! haha

    New Cover (Jimmy69, Steenamaroo, polarity)

Ohh I see what you guys are saying about the ending, just let it ring out all the way to the fade. I can do that. The string squeak is strange, that was a new set of elixir strings on a martin guitar. In the guitarists defense he did hear the version I wanted to do, and play/record it in less...

    [Vocal] Rode NT1,NT2A, Shure SM7B, AKG c214, Neumann TLM 102 ?

I have a couple of these. The neumann and the akg. The neumann is an awesome vocal mic for me. It's very clear sounding and for my voice (higher voice) it works great. The akg isn't really a vocal mic but I had good results using it. Honestly they are both great mics, I think the neumann is...

Interesting performance issue while mixing in Studio One

Could have been running out of memory and then using the pagefile (hard drive) as extra memory. Obviously that is much slower and it would increase your disk I/O. Otherwise I'm not certain. If you want to link to the tracks I can load it up in mine tonight and see if I have any problems.

not as robotic and soulless? vox critique welcome

It almost sounds like the song and vocal are in different keys... Maybe not, I can't exactly place what's wrong with it, but I couldn't listen to much of it.

    Complete new build needed ASAP

Nice looking build there Broken! Just a rough cost looks like about $1800 (I didn't even put into cart to check my math there so excuse me if I'm off). I'm a huge fan of the crucial drives, the M550 is an awesome drive, but I've had just as much luck out of pretty much all of their drives...

    Complete new build needed ASAP

I offered these suggestions already. He can't really afford any downtime at the moment so the second PC seems to be a good option. there are some other factors coming in to play that make it harder. his current system is running is main OS drive in Raid. Raid1 I believe. Without being there to...

    Vocal Booth from HR facebook

Yeah with the wife home now there is more noise in my house, I'm finding it harder to get any recording done. Now I'm trying to re-think my room to try and make it a little easier. Filling with rockwool wouldn't be a problem, I still have a few packs of that sitting in the garage. I might need...

    Vocal Booth from HR facebook

That was my thought. A ton of foam but nothing for low end? I don't know what hushboard is either but it seems thin so I'm not certain how much it would help the low end. I was considering making something like this but filling the walls with some pink fluff or something else good for low end...

    Vocal Booth from HR facebook

Saw this posted by HomeRecording on facebook and thought it was actually pretty cool. From everything I've learned on this site, I would have to assume it wouldn't sound good but I'd love to hear what you guys have to say about this. Convertible Vocal Booth DIY Build - Album on Imgur It's a...

    Tom Petty cover - Steenamaroo

I'm late here Steeno, but I really enjoyed it. The guitars sounded great to my ear and I think your voice suits it well. Nothing to add that needs to be changed, but I had a blast listening!

Merry Christmas from the Greg_L family - another two-fer! 2014 edition!

Thanks. Your vocals always sound well recorded. You're not going to be doing any duets with Beyonce but no one can call you out on the quality that's for damn sure.

Merry Christmas from the Greg_L family - another two-fer! 2014 edition!

Late to the party but an awesome job as always. The kids sound REALLY EXCITED to be doing the song (where is the sarcasm emoticon?). haha it sounded like a great time though. For the Ghost of Christmas Presents what did you do with your vocals? I'm curious how you record them, with what, and...

    Voice advice

Your voice is nice and you can definitely hit the notes but it sounds like you don't really know how to hit them and you can tell it wasn't practiced (can hear you searching for notes as you sing). Once you get the notes you don't have the breath to support them so they get really pitchy and it...
