    Losing My Religion

Yeah Looks like the note is right but his voice is shaking him in and out of the note (on some, others he nailed). Good to know though, thanks for taking the time to post results.

can you understand me? diction/reverb review

In headphones I was having a little trouble, the reverb was drowning you out for me, and the vocal sounds like it is dropped in the middle of everything without clearing any room. Kind of muffled and in the background is what I got. Hope that helps

    Someone Else's Mind....

At work listening on headphones and everything sounded pretty awesome. The vocal seems really clear over the music which sounds great (I have no idea how to do that yet). Nice work man

    Noise/Hiss on tracks

I don't have many waves plugins but the few I do all have the analog mode. Some of the guys singing will have me tracking, verse 3 or 4 times, then same for each chorus and verse so I end up with a lot of tracks. If I'm trying to get different sounds out of different parts I might drop some...

    Losing My Religion

Awesome, I am curious to know about the vocal though. Maybe I'm wrong, but for my own listening/translating I'm interested to know the outcome. That explains it on the mandolin, I think for the original they used the mandolin as the lead and I can't recall if it even had a guitar (I guess I...

    Noise/Hiss on tracks

This is something I've been fighting for a while. I record a few tracks (stereo mic the guitar, vocals, DI the piano, and electronic drum kit). Start mixing and adding plugins and before I'm done the song has developed a hiss and I couldn't figure out why. I asked some others and found the...

    Losing My Religion

I agree with the others here, the vocal on it doesn't sound right to me. I know everyone has said he is on pitch but I don't think he is. He sounds flat (not horrible or anything, just a little flat). He does have a good voice though and I think if he can get some emotion in to it would make a...

Can you help me mix this new song?

Depending on what guitar usually that isn't horrible complicated. You just sand down the the saddle (one luthier suggested sanding the nut too on a certain guitar I had so you may need both). If you're the DIY type here is a link How to lower the action on acoustic guitar explained easy |...

    Drummer collaboration

Hey guys, working on some new tracks with a friend of mine (rock genre I guess it would be called). I didn't know if anyone might be interested in recording some live drums for the tracks we are doing. I have an electronic kit that we're using but frankly I can't make them sound great, and...

old tune, brand new recording - "Not That Bad"

Cool tune. Right up my alley in terms of style. I enjoyed it

Proud papa moment - a little story on my studio

Interesting.. Thanks Beagle! A couple days ago I posted about trying to make a kind of quiet iso room (not sound proof, just no room noises or reflections). Just something to record really quiet stuff in. It's a 6x5 or so room (closet) that I was going to cover with 6" of 703 on each surface...

Proud papa moment - a little story on my studio

I see people posting all the time about trying to turn a small room (or closet, or even build something) for a small vocal booth. Almost every time I see it brought up they are told not to do it. At this point I understand that I don't know about acoustics so when mjbphoto's tells me that it...

Proud papa moment - a little story on my studio

Awesome write up! Question though about the first guy, he is recording vocals in what appears to be a small booth. I'm sure the construction has something to do with it, but would that not sound bad? Is it the room in a room so there is space outside the walls or what it's made of that matters...

    Small ISO room

Yeah the close micing is what I was going for, softer things using close mic and a quieter environment. I was hoping that would solve my problem but it seems like it won't. I already have some traps that I move around (they are rockwool though not 703, 6" deep), although I've only been using 3...

    Small ISO room

I'm thinking of taking the walk in closet in my room (6'4"x 5'2" x 8') and trying to turn it into an iso room/booth. Basically something completely dead and silent for tracking some acoustic guitars, or throwing an amp in to record electric (maybe even a vocal if it's something super quiet). My...

    Rythem Help

I usually record a scratch track with the person singing and playing. Throw that into head phones for them and then record the guitar properly without singing, delete the scratch track and record the vocals.

    Mobile Studio?

I think there are people who do this but you have to be ready and able to record in less than ideal conditions. Maybe the room is horrible, maybe there is no AC. It brings in a lot of extra variables for you. Are you going to bring along portable gobos or other sound treatments to help? I...

    Advice on studio build

RAMI is correct (based on my very very limited understanding). I think I remember where the link is for that. https://homerecording.com/bbs/general-discussions/studio-building-and-acoustic-treatment/small-room-acoustics-365127/ That covers some of it, I asked a question and linked some stuff...

    Need Feedback..new young singer

I agree with the above. She has talent, if you can get her some coaching (if she wants it, and doesn't already have it). Enjoyed the cover.

    Birdy - Skinny Love cover

I think your voice is nice. It sounds like there are a couple of missed notes but I could be wrong. All that is missing to me is the emotion. I think when you are playing it without reading the music and able to just get into the song that will fix itself. All in all though it's a great cover.
