    You assume a lot.

Tascam 38 audio cards part number

I've got my 38 manual right here. What else might it be called?

    Outboard Gear? Is it necessary?

I currently do not have a compressor plug-in (let alone know of one) that I can use while recording, so I use a real one. I certainly can't give a vocalist any "comfort 'verb" with a plug-in, either.

    beginner kit

+1 on what drossfile said. And pierreantoine makes a very good point. Does she already have rhythm? Have you heard her tap out beats with her hands that sounded on tempo? In my experience, timing is something than cannot be learned, only refined. If she doesn't have it to to begin with, then it...

    Instrumental...maybe?

Do a Google search for "backing tracks." There are tons out there.

    External hard drives.

Is it USB or FireWire? How many tracks are you recording at once? I use external FireWire drives for recording all the time and have never had a problem. In fact, it's better to record to a drive other than your C drive.

    Black Metal!

The snare drum sounds like a cardboard box. The drums in general lack definition.

Why must my mono songs become converted to "stereo" on cd

If I was been held at Gitmo, and my choices in the torture room were waterboarding or listening to this music, I'd choose waterboarding.

Why must my mono songs become converted to "stereo" on cd

It's gonna take a really patient listener to get past how bad things sound and get to the "heart" of the song. That's the reason so many of us spend years perfecting our techniques. And to be honest, I don't think your songs are all that good. A great song badly recorded at home has a much...

Why must my mono songs become converted to "stereo" on cd

Dude, your mixes are horrible no matter what order they're listened to. And even remixing won't help how badly some of the instruments and vocals were tracked. That helicopter fighter song sounds like it was recorded through a tube. I can barely hear the drums on china girl. Some of the guitar...

    Emergency help please

I've started getting random hand cramping when I play drums, but like Zaphod I've never found any rhyme or reason as to when it's going to happen. Bananas and Gatorade do help, as does stretching before you play. Starving yourself is not such a good idea.

Why must my mono songs become converted to "stereo" on cd

Muddy, uneven mixes which feature bad mic techniques, excessively effected guitars and caterwauling vocals are "interesting?" This must be a new use of the word I've never heard before.

Neil Peart may have a ton of cymbals, but he knows how to use them tastefully.
