    Feedback on Grungy/Rocky/Punky/Alternative tune

Yeah I totally agree with you, you haven't said anything wrong at all. I wasn't being arsey. Maybe it seemed that way but it wasn't intended. The sloppy intro sounds good to me. I like the "live" feel to the track on a whole. Gives it some balls where others may fall flat. I just didn't fancy...

    Feedback on Grungy/Rocky/Punky/Alternative tune

Yeah whatever mate, each to their own and all that. Was just calling it as I see it. This line intrigues me as you say you want it sloppy/looser but the rest of the track, apart from the verses, sound pretty tight. But hey, it's your tune man, don't let others opinions sway you one way or...

90's Pop Punk Mix... need some suggestions for improvement!

Both mixes of this sound you're trying too hard and over-processing them un-necessarily. I found the overall sound of the 2nd mix a little fatiguing. on a good note, it sounds like a great song underneath there. This is one where Greg is needed. :thumbs up:

    Feedback on Grungy/Rocky/Punky/Alternative tune

I liked it all apart from what VHS pointed out above. Those drums parts were just way too busy for what was needed in the verses and ruined the listening experience. A straighter beat would've kept in chugging along nicely with those guitars. Simplify that bit and you'll be onto a winner...

muffled effect on miditrack(s) in cubase?

Muffled how? Like the sound is coming from another room kind of muffled? You could try a low pass filter for that.

    interface pres vs. external pres

I use a Studio Projects VTB1 and a Alesis MicTube Solo into my M-Audio Audiophile 2496. Had the VTB1 and 2496 for years and they've never let me down. I got the MicTube Solo free with an MXL 990 off eBay a couple of years back. This is all I use now as I never have any need for more than 2 pres...

    Worked It Out

Cheers Ido. Yeah, sadly a lot of Brits try to sound more 'American' in sound and voice. I don't get it myself. My voice is very much British as is my friend Tim who is singing here. I still have a bit to do with this track and it's not really mixed at all yet but I'm glad you liked it...

    Worked It Out

Cheers Trip. I'll keep the thread updated as I go along with this. Will be getting back on this track tomorrow. :thumbs up: Cheers Beag. It's not me singing but I know exactly what you mean. My accent is slightly different. Thanks for the listen and the comments. :thumbs up:

Wild Night demo. Tracked last night, Thown together this morning.

Being a bassist, I like the bass although I agree it is a little boomy compared to the rest of the mix. As it is though, I really enjoyed the track. Good stuff. I'd like to hear the revised mix when you're done. :thumbs up:

    My Little Box of Wires

I thought the same but I think it's just the nature of the song. I don't think volume would necessarily make the lyrics clearer, just louder. It's one of those songs that would have people searching for the lyrics to sing along or end up singing the wrong lyrics in places. (You know, like people...

    Throwback!

I think this sounds pretty good. The backing sounds really good, nice performances, tight and well balanced. The vocals are good but I'd be interested to hear them dryer, with less processing on them. Might help them sit better. As it is though, I enjoyed the track. Reminded me of Fleetwood...

    Worked It Out

Cheers for the listen and the comments B_H I'm going to have a go with the acoustic intro in the week when I get back to this track. I'll keep your idea in mind. :thumbs up:

How to hit high notes using recording techniques? (samples)

You could change the key of the piece of music down a few semitones so that you can hit the note. Trying to hit a note your voice can't make will always sound bad. Other than that, practice and training your voice will take time and it's not something you can easily cheat. :thumbs up:

Never noticed that before either. Good one :thumbs up: Teddy Wong was something that made Greg laugh once upon a time and it kinda stuck. Apologies for derail, back to the T-Rex talk......

    Worked It Out

Thanks Dobro. There will be more instrumentation here and there for the final piece. I have a few bits of guitar worked out for it already. Just haven't had time to get them down. RE: the organ solo, that's really just a filler, although I do quite like it. I think it'll end up and duel of...

    Worked It Out

Thanks for listening and commenting. I'll keep chiseling away at Tim to get the acoustic intro going, I thought it would be a good idea. I might just do it anyway and see how it turns out. Can't hurt. Cheers Ray. The drums are just the standard kit in EZDrummer2 at present. I literally pushed...

    Worked It Out

Cheers Rob. The drumming is coming on. I had a loaner E-Kit for a few months last year and bought myself one in April this year so I've not been playing long at all but it's something I enjoy. I know what i want to play, it's just a matter of getting the arms and feet where they should be...
