No it isnt a sample. There are no samples in that mix at all. Are you not hearing the ghost notes, snare rolls, rim shots, and dynamic hits within the guys playing? You dont get "that" sound from a trigger. Listen a little closer when you get a chance.

Copmression, and then a decent reverb and/or delay will make a vocal sit nicely in a song for me.
