I need some advice soldering new potentiometers to a PCB

I see. The pot at its base looks like the one a few pots over(you have a better angle on that one). I should be able to cut it out. How will I know if the joint is hot enough for me to remove it without ripping any of the trace off?

I need some advice soldering new potentiometers to a PCB

Hey good people I am going on vacation in two weeks and I plan to disassemble and repair my Hartke 3500 bass amp, which currently has two broken potentiometers. They were broken when the rack cover fell off (wasn't secured properly) and hit the knobs, snapping the tube preamp and main volume...

    Cracked Cymbal

I would be extremely careful playing with a cracked cymbal, especially something like a crash cymbal. They can crack further and send pieces flying like projectiles in unpredictable directions, including at you. I've been hit by them before. It sucks

I Just Think a Les Paul BASS Is Goofy

I Just Think a Les Paul BASS Is Goofy

I used to dislike thunderbird basses, but now I think they are pretty cool. Agreed on the lp basses though. My first ever bass was an old squire p-bass that had the hugest tuners ever, and the input jack was on the FRONT of it .

    I'm Building a Pedalboard

Hey, you're fb is impressive! Just wanna give a thumbs up! I built mine out of shitty particle board and velcro and it holds up pretty good. I rarely use it though, lately I've been on a purist kick. guitar tuner amp. that's it.

Peavey XXX - holy feedback batman

The ibanez has seymour duncan/ibanez pickups in it (stock on the ibanez sz-720). The LP has the stock gibsons in it. So, maybe..but the pickups in the gibby aren't mine to change. The ibanez however-- I've wanted to change the bridge to something better for a while. Maybe a zebra duncan...

guitar rig 3 through guitar amp effects loop?

Ahhh I see Mike. Thanks for the replies guys. So basically my sig chain should be Guitar->jamlab -> comp/guitar rig 3->jamlab out-> effects loop return (the send and return are the same 1/4 jack on the vintage club... i know...it's weird) That way I'm really only using the amp's 4xel84 output...

guitar rig 3 through guitar amp effects loop?

I use guitar rig 3 for quiet practice at night. I use it through an m-audio jamlab into the usb port of my comp, which is an intel duo-core 1.6 ghz with 2 gigs of ram. The latency is set at 8 ms by default and I don't even notice any delay. Like I said, I have only used it for practice and not...

    JCM900 Boost?

Hey I have had success fixing crackly pots on amps with contact cleaner. Just spray (using the straw extension included with most quality brands) directing the stream into the inside of the pot while turning the knob on the outside. This usually clears up my issues. I'm a big fan of the jcm...

Peavey XXX - holy feedback batman

Yeah, we sound checked on the day of about 2 hours before our set started. We heard the feedback then but decided I would just roll off the volume during the quiet parts. We didn't know it would feedback while merely holding the strings in a muted position:eek:. The band I'm filling in with is a...

Peavey XXX - holy feedback batman

I had the displeasure of gigging with a XXX last night and had ridiculous feedback issues with my nicer ibanez (added full shielding) and a borrowed gibson les paul studio. I was using the amp mostly on channel two with the gain and volume halfway up. I did not even attempt to the use the ultra...

    olp mm1 axis copy

Hello all! Being the frugal guitarist that I am, I have been looking to pick up a cheaper axe for practice while I am traveling (which is quite often). I've looked at a few xaviere and agile lp/fender copies but have decided that I want something different for a change. I've found a couple of...

    I love guitar center thread

The one here has a great selection for guitar but not so much for everything else. The sales people are pushy as hell, though. The other day this guy was pushing this egnater amp on me and I pretty much had to bitch-slap him to get him off my back. And if you don't commit to buying something...

    "Black Sable" Treatment- $599? For a 12AU7???

Black Sable, otherwise known as the B.S. treatment. People will buy and believe anything. There are indeed well made tubes and poorly made tubes, but no preamp tube should cost three-hundred dollars. New stock, old stock, new old stock, whatever. Three hundred dollars is ridiculous for a...

Hey bass players!! I give a crap what you think!!

just my .02 I've always gotten the best slap sounds out of gallien-kruger amps. I used to own a 400 RB-III and it was really great for that. Best slap sounds ever. It caught fire on me one day and I ended up replacing it with a hartke. Hasn't been the same but it still sounds good! It can be...
