thanks guys
i will unfortunately probably keep it about where i got it now ,for now, till i get the house where i can make the whole basement into a studio. and minus the bass traps i got everything else setup just about right to what your saying. as far as placement , where i monitor, where...
simple
main l/r out into the mbox 2 . each side to its own input on the mbox. then when i go into a session i make stereo tracks instead of mono utlizing as much of both pieces of hardware as i can. unfortunately i just figured that one out, the horrid ordeal tracks with my old board i went...
indeed
i try to keep it comfy and be laid back so when i track people, usually ones who never have, they feel comfy and can just do their thing!
as far as treatments i do things one at a time when i get the loot to. always minor stuff but step at a time... i actually plan to just keep going...
point made
my friend. i see your side and also agree with that someday it would be great to do this instead of a day job, i just feel that i have to keep it humble to get to that point and keep gettin them under my belt so i can constantly work to get that next notch up. i do it for the...
well here is a few before and after i just altered my existing desk. i don't roll with anything flashy, i am barebones and put what i can into it, but here it is!
?
ok so i am losing by bouncing from PT into a wma, then dragging that into ahead nero when creating a cd then? isnt that the same as wav. i would simply drag the wav's into nero just the same and wouldnt lose any steps. would be same amount for me.
agree to disagree sir.
the music industry needs to diminish. there needs to be more diy'ers in my opinion. i have a home studio that i advertise for to get myself various experience and to try to help small bands out who dont have tuns of money to have someone do it. and the current band i am...
Both are good
but depends on the project.... i alot of the times do actually on a guitar cab a dynamic and condensor mic then even a DI track too. and mix to pref! i have also done just the the cab with dyn or cond, or just DI. it all varies to choice . i find that i dont always get it all out...
learn
learn it yourself. you will be proud of it more in the end if you have all the equipment that you have it to that point, just keep going with it. thats how i started and never looked back. you will never get better by handing it to the next guy.
what i would try
save your file/song, then go into file menu, select bounce to/disk , file type windows media, and bounce, select folder you want to save the newly rendered file into, then just go into your cd burning software and use the wma files you created to convert them to cd track files...
fruity loops?
if your trying to do drum machine drums you can find it online and crack it for full version dare i say it! check out amputee masturbation on myspace, all fruity loops drum tracks imported to protools, then guitars and vox added. really simple, and pretty much side project so each...
agreed
most of what these guys are saying will all work great with a good mix depending on what kind of drumming per instance. i would say
1 kick
2 snare
and 3&4 overhead and look up on google and youtube xy mic setup for the overheads.
but all depends on what your doing, my current...
go with digital.
for all the more your looking to spend go into the digital. i dont think you will not like what you get. i started with tascam analog 4 track, guy in my last band had a digital 8 track and from just using it to track drums for the last album i did the digital is way nicer i...
when i started almost 5 years ago!
it was on a tascam analog 4 track pos. and honestly i didnt care aout commercial and still dont. i just wanted to do it myself for my own band. and not having a tun of money thats where we(i) started. almost 5 years later i run mbox2 pro, pt 8, studio...
just recorded horrid ordeal live...
was my first time recording a band live, and did it due to all the reasons above stated. and mostly due to the drummer never having tracked before not wanting to try it his first experience . so we went barebones and hit 9 mics on the drums, put up thick...
well
the beer will either be leinenkugel or heineken and i can get you some bad ass cheese cuz my wifes mother is seeing a guy who owns a smokehouse. his smoked cheddar is the shit!
I will even reference pantera!
if you know the pantera home videos, you see it while phill his recording vocals for the album 'far beyond driven' , you see him in the studio for that album at the board trying to do his vocals, saying he's stumbling cuz he is drunk.... but anyways its a good ol...
