Really? Did you inspect them closely? How did you machine them? With a router or a dado blade on the table saw? If on the table saw, sometimes, if you don't use a vertical featherboard to keep the material tight to the table, the depth of the dado will vary. Also, I ALWAYS run my dado's TWICE...

What is the problem? Are the backs too thick or what? If so, just route a rabbit on the edge to make them thinner...that is IF that's the problem. Just clamp a fence to the router and away you go. Like this... ;)

Best way to get "analog" sound

Well, since this thread has been bumped..heres my take. I'm an old fart. I like recordings that were recorded in ALL analog studios. I've been listening, playing music and learning about recording for over 40 years and I've come to a FINAL conclusion lately. For the past 5 years, I listen to...

Can a create a descent sound in my bedroom?

How far? Oh, ten or twelve miles or so.:) I mean, come on. How far? Here is the reality. Do what StevenJacksonMu said...try it. Unfortunately, you WON"T be able to tell HOW FAR unless you play it back on a few other systems and rooms/car. THEN and ONLY then will your ears get some...

    a little help please.

Ram will help some, but unless you are using tons of samples and plugins, CPU upgrade is a better choice. which in this day and age means a newer computer which most for the last 3 yrs anyway come with at least 1gig ram. Frankly, upgrading to anything less than an X58/i7/Win7 64b 4-6gig ram is...

    Building a vocal recording booth

Not that it matters, but I couldn't name one. No since in remembering something that makes me sick. Frankly, I couldn't name any tune that's come out in 20 years. Except for "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow." I liked that. Once I heard John Lee Hooker...well, that's my kinda stuff. Pop doesn't...

    Weird Space for Recording, Advice.

No wonder. It's not PVC, which is what I was looking for. I'm certainly no expert either, but I thought I'd mention the danger of using standard Poly sheeting in this context. Ok, it's White Metallized Polypropylene. Now that I know what it is, and how it's used, I'll be aware of it's use if I...

Can a create a descent sound in my bedroom?

Define DECENT. For starters, there is no such thing as "sound". It doesn't exist outside of your brain. What we call "sound", is in reality vibration propagation through a gas(air) until it reaches your eardrums, which transposes vibrations into electrical stimuli. Your brain interprets this...
