    Double bass tips

Can you give us an idea of the style you wanna use the double kick for? Some people wanna go as fast as they can continuously, which I admit is very fun when jamming and making noise, but is something I always avoid in songs because it lacks musicality. Try playing some rhythms which use half...

Shure SM-57 vs U-87 for recording guitar?

There was a thread a while back about the Audix i5, and I started one too. Someone had an audio comparison between the SM57 and the i5. It persuaded me to buy the i5, which is pretty cool. Using it on the snare drum at the moment, but sounded nice on guitar. The body's really well machined too...

    wwjd?

Hey, my ceiling in my recording room is 2100mm (6'10"). I haven't recorded anything fantastic, but I do not have a problem with reverberation from it at all. I'm only doing rough demos at the moment, and I'm not getting the greatest sound I have to admit, but that has nothing to do with reverb...

Shure Beta 87a and Beta 58a question

87's a condenser, and gets heaps of feedback on a small stage. Has a nice sound if you can get rid of feedback if you've got in-ear monitors and stuff like that.

SM57 vs. Audix i5 on distorted guitar (samples)

I've had a problem with an SM-57 on the snare: the pointed black plastic grille isn't as strong as a normal metal grille and occasionally wild sticks hit the mic, and the end comes off. If a few off-target sticks hit the i5, do you think there would be much damage? I know they say it's dent...

    SONAR 32nd notes problem

Thanks so much. I knew there must be a simple answer, and I had no idea.

    SONAR 32nd notes problem

Yeah that's true. It's just a lot more work to manually set every note to the right duration and start position. So if anyone knows a way to fix it, that would be great.

    SONAR 32nd notes problem

Yes I've looked at the SONAR help, and i've searched google; I didn't find anything. Even with the snap properties set to 32nd or 64th, the 32nd note button in the staff view is disabled. My band does note read the notation, no! I am just trying to save my compositions so if I forget them they...

    SONAR 32nd notes problem

I used to have Home Studio, but upgraded to sonar. Apart from recording, I use it to make the midis for my band's songs, but SONAR isn't letting me use any notes shorter than 16ths. 16th triplets, and 32nds are greyed out, and when i halve the duration in a 16th's properties, it just displays is...

    Headset mics

I'm affraid I don't think my local shop can get those mics in. I'm leaning towards the AKG now, because it also looks comfortable. So ANYONE with experience of this mic, could you fill me in?

    Headset mics

Thanks. I'll avoid the shure one! Anyone got experience with the two I mentioned?

    Headset mics

Hi I'm looking for a reasonably cheap headset mic. I'm a drummer, so I don't know how that will affect my choices, but obviously I want it to pick up the lowest sound of drums possible. So far I've been looking at the Audio Technica ATM75 and the AKG C444. Any preferances? Also, I'd be using a...

    shure 55-sh

Being designed for looks, it has big feedback problems on stage. Probably more so than even your PG.

    Hi! Recording/live condenser?

Thanks everyone. Well I looked into Audiot technica a bit more and found the ATM33a. Anyone used this? I think I'd get either this or the Shure KSM109, but I'm not sure if the 109 would be good on stage???

    Hi! Recording/live condenser?

Hey guys, I'm a drummer in a rock band. New to the forum. I'm looking for a good quality microphone that I will be able to use underneath my snare drum, as I have every other mic I need for my kit. I want to use it for recording and live. I was thinking that since it would hopefully be a...
