Just a little curious how it works with everyone else. Do you write the lyrics first and then the music or do you write the music and then come up with lyrics?
I absolutely have to do the lyrics first. It always bums me out when I come up with a cool lick on guitar or keyboard cuz I know...
Pete Townshend or Kerry Livgren.
Neither of them are dead though...
so I guess I'd have to come back as Jack the Ripper and kill one of them, then myself, and then come back.
Hey that reminds me of another. Maybe I'll come back as David St. Hubbins from Spinal Tap.
What do you mean exactly by "midiverb"? Midi is data. Little 1's and 0's and on's and off's. A reverb unit would apply reverb to an instrument sound. So why not just hook up a reverb unit to your sound module? Maybe I don't get what your saying, what would you gain with a "midiverb"?
I've done a little of this before and I've come up with a method that seems to work.
Sit down in front of the TV with the instrument you like to compose on. Have the remote handy and play the video through. Play along with what you see. Keep watching the video until you have some ideas...
Nice rhymes.
Are this clicks and pops evenly spaced? If there is a definite even pattern to them then it's got to be a clock issue. Have you located anything in your soundcard settings that deals with clock source?
Have you tried to record anything with spdif from an external device? If so...
Recently I was in kind of a lyrical rut so I was trying some collaboration projects with a friend of mine who writes his own lyrics. I found that reading through his songs actually helped me find inspiration for my own.
Sometimes we get trapped in our own heads trying to explore what's in there...
My brother had a Juno-60. I loved that thing!
I think Roland made a version of that board that was midi capable. I think it was the Juno-160 (help me out if I'm tellin it wrong). It had the midi in's and out's but the sounds just weren't the same.
It seems like it might be possible to...
Have you recorded anything on that stereo from a device other than your 4-track? Does it work?
It almost sounds like the problem is in your stereo's recording heads. If everything sounds fine while you're monitoring through the stereo but not on playback of the mixdown, the problem must be in...
One of 4. I don't care which.
Steve Walsh - Kansas. They Rock!
Tom Scholtz - Boston. Just listen to "Smokin'"
Billy Joel - Consistently Awesome.
The Guy from Dream Theater - that whole band is unbelievable.
Anyone ever recorded into computer from a DAT machine?
I'm trying to record something from a DAT tape into my mac. I've got the sound card set to SPDIF (sp?) so the digital signal is going directly into the computer without any routing through my mixing board.
My problem is in monitoring the...
I just saw the latest version of Digital Performer.
I'm very impressed!
I'm not a mac user and I hate macs, but geez, it's worth the pain to use Digital Performer and all the new stuff that comes with it.
I just meant that the only program that I am using right now is Pro Tools. It suits my needs because it handles both audio and midi and offers a comfortable mixing environment. I mainly use midi to record keyboard tracks and drum tracks and use audio for my guitar and vocals.
Well, Pro Tools will do midi. I record all my midi and audio with Pro Tools on my HP Pavilion.
If you want to record a midi track into Pro Tools from your Radio Shack (ouch!) Keyboard, you'll first have to make sure it is connected to your sound card with a computer midi cable. The two midi...
Nope, not the cord. It does it with every cord I have.
It could very well be a short or something in the wiring though. I'll have to open it up and take a look. Not like I'll be able to fix it, but I might see it anyway.
Thanks for the info
I just saw the thing and wondered what the heck it was. Cool instrument.
He had a lot of cool gear there with him. You don't see anybody playing the huge old synths anymore.
Well, Pro Tools is a PC midi sequencer. My problem is when I click the button to choose instruments I get a pop up list of numbers from 1 to 128. These are the general midi instruments. I have about 600 other sounds I would like to be able to access.
I think what I need is a midi driver...
