Flat Rock -Final Mix - (again)

Better. I might even back off further on the reverb on the vox. Also, I'd suggest panning the guitars further. Right now the vocals (which should be the focus) are competing with the gits. Actually, if you panned the guitars more, you might not even need to back off on the vocal reverb. HHs...

Tell Me What You Wanna Do

Thanks. Didn’t touch the guitars, but as Newton said, each action has an opposite and equal reaction. IOW, every time I move one knob some other shit changes. ?

Pink Floyd In the Flesh? mix critique

Might want to post somewhere that doesn't require an account to listen. Here's an idea... you can post mp3s directly on this site.

Flat Rock -Final Mix - (again)

Nice song. Catchy. Nice harmony. Too much reverb overall for my taste. Primarily on the rhythm guitar and vocals. Takes away from the clarity. Agree with Serendipity about the HH. Too busy for the song. Good stuff though. :thumbs up:

Tell Me What You Wanna Do

OK men. I tried to incorporate your feedback into a remix. The biggest takeaway for me, was the unevenness in the kick drum. You guys nailed that. While the velocity on the hits were mostly in the 70s and 80s, there were some over 100 and others under 65. I tried to tame the outliers to...

Tell Me What You Wanna Do

Yeah, the MIDI gives me a lot of flexibility after the fact. I can rebalance the entire kit if need be. Add reverb where needed. Etc. Etc. And even fix minor timing issues - which I usually try not to, unless very egregious.

Tell Me What You Wanna Do

I’ll take a look at his module. It’s on the low end of Roland’s offerings. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. The drummer is clueless regarding MIDI. He has the kit tweaked the way he wants for audio, and that’s really all he cares about. My problem is the only way to record his...

Tell Me What You Wanna Do

Thanks again everyone. Seems like the drums are the primary issue here. I’ll take a harder look at them. Changing to a different sound kit is relatively easy. Getting more dynamics is a bit harder. I mean I can edit the velocity on each hit, but I worry about making it sound more artificial...

Tell Me What You Wanna Do

Thanks again for the input. BT - I don't get Beatles... but I'll certainly take it. :) DM60 - Sorry, don't know what push compression is. I know what a compressor is. And I use multiband compression in mastering. Help me learn. BSG - Do you mean just bringing up the volume on the kick?

Mrs. Robinson (Simon and Garfunkel cover)

There's some pitch issues. There's some timing issues. But there's also potential. Stick to it.

    Yet Another Mandolin Duet (YAMD)

My head hurts just thinking of trying to remember all that. Nicely done.

Tell Me What You Wanna Do

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Much appreciated. FWIW the drums are a real drummer. Not sure why, but I seem to get comments on them being programmed on quite a few of my posts, and I’m still not sure what the issue is. ??‍♂️ They’re played live and captured via MIDI. I can understand...

Tell Me What You Wanna Do

Some fresh meat, boys. The last one I posted was about the death of a relationship. This one is more about the birth of one. A bit more upbeat, and almost reached 3 minutes (almost :) ). Thanks for listening.

    Every Party

This isn't my style at all, so I'm not sure how much constructive comments I can offer. The song is catchy. I wasn't sure if the Jamaican accent was a put on, or real. Obviously it fits the song. There are some plosives in the intro part of the song. There's a lot of P words there, and...

    Dirt Roads - Original

Hate to say it, but I think I prefer the original one. There's a harshness to this version. Mostly in the synth I think. Makes it hard to listen to. The vocals are clearer here though.

    Round and Round

Thanks for the feedback. We’ve never had much luck doubling vocals in the past. Might be worth giving it another shot.

    Round and Round

OK, you guys are convincing me to lower the side stick. Thank you for the nice words. Pokey out is the Juliard term I presume? :)

    Round and Round

I'll check. It was a live drum performance, and I'm ok with small imperfections. In fact, I like them mostly. I appreciate the input and the listen.

    Complications

This is nice. Pleasant to listen to. My only negative is that everything needs more balls. Drums, guitar. It's like they're through a filter and not getting the whole spectrum or something. I'd also shorten some of the instrumental parts. Nice, but gets repetitive. Good work. I like it.

    The World

Just stopped by to give a listen. Not really my genre at all. That said, it sounds well recorded and well played.
