    Help with DAW Setup PLEASE.

I don´t have the gear you got, but all you need to do is hook everything to the mixer, send from the mixer to the souncard and out from the souncard to the mixer and then to your monitors.

    Cassette to digital to CD.

You say you get clicks while playback. Can you connect some headphones directly to the soundcard to test if the clicks are also there?

    building a DAW...

If I were you, I would buy a big case, with 5 (5 1/2) bays at minimum. You don't know hoh handy this will be when you start adding stuff. Also a bigger case will be cooler. Also get a 350 W or higher Power Supply. I also suggest a second hard drive, dedicated for audio.

    Cassette to digital to CD.

Clicks and Pops? That seems to be happening a lot around here. What OS do you have? Some hints: Update BIOS or Flash that sucker, if it is outdated that is. Disable any services you are not needing from the OS. Check the IRQ sharing, the card should be alone. Try moving it to PCI slot number 2...

What size monitors are you using?

I wish I had a 21" but it was too expensive for my budget. Besides if I had to buy something 21" I would buy a TV and later on save and get the monitor....

    New user needs new gear.

So if you wanna record 24/96 you better get a dedicated hard drive for that, I would say, to play it safe between 60G and 80G. You´ll also need a program to dither down your 24/96 recordings to 16/44.1 for cd.

    freaky, spacey loop sounds?

jajajajajajaja and don´t forget to also catch the sound of them while you are lighting them up!!!!!!!! Or your scream afterwards if you burn yourself:D

    Cassette to digital to CD.

If you just added the second card, maybe you have an IRQ issue, both cards are fighting for the same IRQ. Go into BIOS and check up on that.

Audio System - Best of Best

Tat Radar is pricey as hell, but if you consider not getting a PC plus a decent soundcard, you would end up paying the same thing. Damn, I hadn´t thought about this before, should´ve done that instead of going the PC/soundcard way.....But then again, how would I surf for porn without my PC???:D

What size monitors are you using?

I have a 19 inch monitor that I am pretty happy with. In fact I have several hardware profiles with different resolutions for gaming, surfing, recording etc. I think it would be cool to have an additional inexpensive monitor to use as an editing window. Sonar supports dual monitors right?
