    A song w/ only MXL 990 and SM57

A folksy number written by my friend. He sang and played guitar. I did the rest. How is the mix to your ears? http://www.purevolume.com/briancuthbert

    Panning Stereo Tracks

Good point. In the future I will do this. Question: Are both sides of a stereo track usually set to the same volume?

    Panning Stereo Tracks

Thank you very much. The thing is, I would like the guitar to sit more on one side of the mix. Can i do this by having one side higher in volume?

    Panning Stereo Tracks

I am mixing a song in which both the drums and the acoustic guitar were tracked in stereo. What is a good way to pan them? Right now I have the guitar at about 80% right/ 60% left and the drums 50% left/ 30% right, but it doesn't sound right. Cheers.

    Ambient micing?

Wow. That is intense. Why would anybody go to the trouble to burn Harvey like that, especially after what he's done for us here?

    Ambient micing?

Really? I believe it. That album has a great sounding natural reverb. I am relieved that Harvey's not really leaving HomeRecording, just the mic forum.

    Ambient micing?

Whoa! Harvey no! This board wouldn't be half as good without you.

Wow. That experience must have been amazing. I would love to visit Motown some day. Did the room sound at all like it does on the records? (I know, silly question)

This is great! It would be nice if you could let us know a specific start date when you're ready, and then remind us. I'll be there.

new technique recording audio onto ceramic pot ...

This is the funniest thread ever. I'll weigh in: This could NEVER happen, because: 1) the broom overwrites. 2) too much interference.

    Recording Solo Acoustic & Voice

Interesting. I would kind of like a stereo image, but it is not necessary. This may work, especially since the 990 is my only condenser and i only have one decent preamp. I'll try. Any other suggestions.

    Recording Solo Acoustic & Voice

I need to record one guy playing guitar and singing at the same time. Here are the available mics: 3 SM57s, 1 SM58, 1 Beta 58, 1 MXL 990. Preamps: 1 SP VTB1, a Behri mixer. Running it through a Delta 1010. The guitar is a nice but somewhat boomy sounding 3/4 Martin. Yesterday, the best...

    new twangy kind of song

yup its good stuff. the thing is, the recording isn't amazing or "pro" sounding", but the song is cool, the production is great, and the performance is there. i like the hand claps!

Please tell me what u think...

Right on. It sounds good on these pc speakers. I agree about the autotune, tho.

How do I improve my recording quality? *audio clip*

Oooooo if Harvey saw this he'd be pissed..... LDC's do not necessarily have better bass response than SDCs. But I think the recording is fine, in general. You sped up about 10 BPM, though.
