Fostex VF16 approved hard drives -- list?

I've got an 80 Gb Seagate in mine and it works fine.

    A "why" question about Fostex:...

With the advent of other digital technology, perhaps Fostex has decided to "get out of the business" so to speak. Interesting.

    Replacement fuse spec?

I understand where your coming from Lou. In the interest of maintaining a good relationship I didn't press the matter. I wasn't using the amp at the time to earn income. Had I been a working musician I would have approached things differently. The other amps that interrupted my repair were those...

Two Interesting Fender Amps and One VERY Interesting Owner's Manual

As was mentioned - two amps provide more sound options. I used to use a Dual Showman and a Royal Guardsman for just that reason. Why limit yourself to only a few colors when you can have the whole box of crayons?

    Replacement fuse spec?

Actually no. Just thought I would update the situation in case anyone cared to know more. I ran into a wall on the diagnosis and eventually took it to a shop to get it fixed. The "I'll have it for you in a month" turned into nearly a year (this guy gets all the repair biz from touring groups...

    Do Lyrics Matter?

I would agree with most of what has been said. Lyrics and their delivery do matter. What happens at times in pop/rock is the tune itself is "catchy" enough that the lyrics take a back seat. Not saying it's bad or good. One tune I really like - What You Do to Me/Teenage Fanclub - is quite simple...

Post-datum: (hmmm) Turned out the output transformer went bad.

    Arboretum Systems??

Thanks! Perhaps I'll pursue that angle. Can't hurt eh?

    Arboretum Systems??

Thanks! I actually tried some of the download sites including CNET. All were dead ends. I really like Ray Gun for it's ease of doing what I needed. Perhaps I'll search for some freeware or inexpensive shareware that does the same thing. Or just do what I can manually. Thanks again for your replies.

    Arboretum Systems??

Are these guys gone to software heaven? I'm a registered user of their Ray Gun software and was wanting to contact them with upgrade questions and related stuff. The web site comes up with a page not found error. The toll free number on the software install disc I have connects to a live phone...

    Tinnitus

You might want to check out the House Ear Institute's web site for more information on hearing concerns. It sounds as though you might be experiencing a bit of what is called recruitment - if I spelled that right - also. This is a situation of certain sounds and or frequencies that for whatever...

    Stupid Question on File Types

I always wondered that also as I've used AIFF and SD II files to burn discs. Like the other folks said as long as it is uncompressed 16/44.1 you should be good to go evidently. As I understand it AIFF, WAV and SDII - and probably Ogg Vorbis and others - are just different ways of doing the same...

    Di box shootout!!!!

I own Behringer's Ultra and Ultra-G along with 2 Whirlwind IMPs. I've used the listed Radial AV1 and the Countryman DI. Radial's stuff seems to be nearly bullet proof - built to last, transparent in the application I use it for which is live sound for AV presentations. The Behringers were a...

    Boiling your strings

Do you remember if the Axe-Wipes were straight De-Oxit or if other chemicals were added such as a lubricant? I know with regular De-Oxit the recommended approach is to apply a small amount and then wipe off the surface with a clean cloth. Did the Axe Wipes come with usage instructions? Just...

    Boiling your strings

I remember hearing about boiling strings back in the 60s so it's been around for a while. I normally just wipe off my strings after playing with a soft cloth which helps the longevity. Has anyone ever tried using Caig De-Oxit wipes on their strings after playing? For those who might not know...

    Hooking up a Mixer to a Computer/laptop

And you'll need a regularly terminated - XLR - mic to plug into the mixer if you want to use the mixer to input any mic'd sources.

Zoom R16 or Presonus FireStudio 2626 for Interface?

The biggest difference between Pro and Artist is the processing - Pro being 64 bit and Artist 32 bit (implied by the info from a PreSonus ad I'm looking at). With the FireStudio you would get a $150 Studio One upgrade credit from PreSonus as opposed to the $75 cash back deal which ends 10/31/09...

Zoom R16 or Presonus FireStudio 2626 for Interface?

First I apologize for some misinformation. The R16, when used as an interface to your laptop, can indeed handle 24/96k. It is only when recording to the SD card that you will be limited to 16/44.1K. Another factor to think about is the PreSonus can handle 64 bit processing which, if you have...

Zoom R16 or Presonus FireStudio 2626 for Interface?

The Presonus would have a perceived edge due to the FW interface. Also Presonus has a higher perceived quality while Zoom is considered of lower quality - that is in the mind of those that hold to that opinion and may or may not be true of every product from those two manufacturers. I think the...
