    So long Alesis!!

Automaton Well, provided the HD24 ever comes out, I think it can still compete. The media is far less expensive. Mackie media is like at least $250 a pop, whereas the alesis writes to standard IDE drives. Also, the mackie is still using the FAT32 format, and alesis is supposed to have a new way...

    Subwoofer

Has anyone, by chance, had the opportunity to use or even hear Events new Subs? I was thinking about setting up to start mixing 5.1 in my studio and since I already use 20/20s, I figured I might as well go with a company I already trust.

    Considering ADAT

October?! Man, I thought that was supposed to be ready at least a month ago. What's the hold up? They're probably going to end up pissing more people off and they are just going to go to with other machines... I'll probably have enough money saved up to buy a protools system by the time that...

    Considering ADAT

If you've got $3 - 4K to work with, stay away from the LX20s, everyone I know, that has one, has had nothing but trouble with them. Go with the XTs if you want ADAT.

Any tips on buying memory for AKAI S6000...?

www.pricewatch.com Best prices on the net... www.pricewatch.com I got 512MB for my PC for $40. They have 64MB SIMM (EDO), which is perfect for the S6000, I think for like $20 a pop. I wish I had found out about the place before I maxed out my S5000.

    Fostex Vm200 Mixer W/digitech S100

I'm not sure if the aux send on the fostex is stereo or mono, but connect the sends on the mixer to the inputs on the S100, then connect the outputs on the S100 to the returns on the mixer. From the mixer you should be able to adjust the levels sending and returning.

    Acoustic Sampler

S2000 I'm pretty sure the S2000 is expandable to 8 outputs... The S5000 has only gone down in price. I bought mine when they came out for around $1,800. Now they are like $1,300 at GC. Its a bad ass sampler though. About to put the USB card on mine so I can use the AK.SYS. software.

    Oktava MC-012

319 I have a 319, and I love it. Its always been crystal clear for me. I'm certainly no mic expert, but a friend of mine that owns a couple of AKG C3000Bs (among others I believe) told me he liked the 319 better, that could be good or not as good as it sounds, as I've never used that...

    moog mg-1 ?

theremins You can listen to just about any old sci-fi movie from the 50s and 60s and hear what a theremin sounds like. Moog / Bigbriar (www.bigbriar.com) makes a great theremin. and.... *drools* I think their performance synth just came out! Paia (www.paia.com) also makes a good theremin...

    Considering Used ADAT

yeah, checking the hours on an adat machine is a good idea, as well as asking about its service history....to check the drum on hours press and hold down the set locate button and push the stop button. I would honestly suggest the Dakota adat PCI card by Frontier Designs, even though you are...

    Vintage synths/keys...

my list As far as old synths go, I have a Korg MS-10, a Korg Polysix, a Moog MG-1, Korg Poly 800, Yamaha DX-9, and a Roland D-110. I did however just get a Studio Electronics ATC1 yesterday!! Its not old, but it kicks ass. I don't really worry about MIDI on my old stuff since I have my ATC1 and...

The only thing I can say is that the cure used Yamaha DX7s pretty extensively during the 80s... then again so did a lot of people. Really cool synth though...

    ADAT Error 7

from my personal experience Apogee tapes have worked best. I've suggested them to those that I know who use adat, and they've said nothing but good things since.
