    Outboard

Sounds cool. I could probably hear some wacky echo style vocals or something. Almost a voice like Type O Negative would work good.

Posted up a review on the Fractal Audio Axe FX II

Any people interested in the Axe FX II, I posted a review for it. Not a review with a bunch of specs or sound clips, more of a review of the Axe versus other guitar tone solutions. Fractal Audio Axe FX II Review

    Criticism Please! (Rock track)

The drums scream Steven Slate Drums. Am I correct? Not bad or good, just after hearing them so much they seem to have a sound you can pick out. Neat song. The last mix you have works pretty well. I would compress those clean guitars to keep them nice and level and a bit less quiet.

Can you give some feedback on this mix?

Seems to work. The bass drum is where all the bass is at. The actual bass line isn't booming, but it still seems to work.

Looking for advise on my mix

It is neat sounding. A lot going on. The mix just isn't well balanced. It isn't one thing, it is an over all thing. It is a cool sounding tune but could benefit from some mix work.

    STC Rough Mix [Ascend Recordings]

Sounds appropriate for this style. Everything cuts through fine.

That's right... A song about Mayonnaise!

Mayo freaks me out. I don't know why but it just does. I'm more of a spicy mustard guy. The guitars sound good. The bass doesn't seem to have a whole lot of low end. Vocals work and are clear and up front. The kick drum seems to clicky for this kind of sound, almost sounds like somebody...

    July Thing

Sounds good. Those 5 watt amps are a lot louder than one would think. I had an Orange Dark Terror 15w / 7w and even in the 7 watt mode it was loud. It was fun to record with but not always practical. I know there are a couple lunch box heads that go down to 1 watt. Probably not the best for a...

Please share your opinions on this mix

Seems like this was mainly done for the drums since the guitar tracks are just temp. The drums sound really good. They are a nice balanced tone going on. A good sounding high end on the cymbals too. I play drums, so I always mix them like I'm sitting behind the kit, so hi hat on the left, ride...

    Like I Knew You Would

Sounds good. Everything seems to work well together sound wise. It was already mentioned that during the chorus the guitar tracks are tough to make out. The synth and vocals seem to overpower it but it sounds fine. Nice upbeat flow.

    Drumstep Metal? Here it comes!

Are you trying to go for a sound like Ministry or something? I'm not really familiar with dub step or drum step but it seemed very repetitious and simple so I'm guessing that is how it is supposed to be, like Techno or something. Is the "bass line" just one low note all the time? I really don't...

Heavy Atmosphere Driven Groove Metal using Axe FX II

The Nightmare Within by joshpollard on SoundCloud - Hear the world The title of the song is "The Nightmare Within". This is the first song I have done since purchasing the Axe FX II. After years of Using PODs and plugs I'm digging this thing. I've had it for a little over a week now, so I'm...

Advice on my Progressive Metal/Djent mix

Mixing-Engineers-Handbook That may be a worthwhile book to pick up. If you ever get into recording live, there is also a recording eng handbook. It's a good place to start. You can also search google for what frequencies effect what instruments and how they react. There are certain "magic"...

Mix question regarding bass, not enough on this rock track?

Soundclick Josh Pollard - Say Goodbye forever Wrote a new rock tune. Not to sure about the bass guitar in the mix. Any opinions?

    Fly Away (Hard Rock Tune)

Fly Away Page Link First song I put together using Presonus Studio One. I dropped Cubase and made the switch and am pretty happy. Tools used: DAW - Studio One Pro Guitars - Amplitube 3 Bass - Amplitube 3 Drums - Superior Drummer 2 Compressors - Stillwell Bombardier, Presonus Multiband...

The Wall Of Sleep - A New Metal Tune, not NuMetal

Well if your reading to be entertained then it is sort of a hassle constantly reaching for the dictionary. I probably should just worry about mixing later down the road since the tracks will always be here... unless my HDD fails of course.

The Wall Of Sleep - A New Metal Tune, not NuMetal

The name is really just a name. It isn't based off any story, just my own. Beyond the wall of sleep is the Lovecraft story. Sabbath had something like it, I don't remember what the actually name was though. I'm really just going for my own voice and having fun with what I can do with it. I'm not...

The Wall Of Sleep - A New Metal Tune, not NuMetal

The Wall Of Sleep on soundclick This is the latest tune we recorded. I've been working on the mixes back and forth between each song. I think this sounds pretty good at this point. Been having a lot of fun with the vocals on this project. Anyway, if you have liked the past couple tunes, let me...

Facing Worlds, a new metal tune to love and hold and cherish

I think maybe the low end was just too boomy and the higher mids didn't come through enough on the mix.

Facing Worlds, a new metal tune to love and hold and cherish

I'd say Nevermore is one of my bigger influences. Same with one of the other guitarists. He is also into Priest and Halford, I'm not really though but I do like Maiden. I also like a lot of other stuff too. I usually just try to find the voice that fits best to the parts I'm singing and run...
