I played a bunch of amps today....

I've got a rockerverb 50 and tiny terror, and they are super different amps. The rockerverb is amazing, smooth to classic orange crunch/OD. The TT kinda does one thing...a mid heavy, dry 70s tone. But, I find myself playing through my twin more and more. Just an amazing clean sound. I'm not...

    New cab!!!!

V30s are weird. In some things they sound awesome, in others they sound bad. I haven't been able to figure out what they work with and don't. I have a tiny terror that sounds awesome, a maz 18 that sounds terrible, and (surprisingly) a vintage twin with two v30s that sounds great. When they...

Looking for a nice electric guitar

Can you solder? Can you watch youtube? Do you have a buddy who can solder? It's not too hard, just a couple parts (3pdt stomp switch, 470k-2.2M resistor, bleed cap, some wire). I can do it, and so can a lot of other internet dudes (keeley, analogman...plus they do other mods that are totally...

Looking for a nice electric guitar

Can you solder? Can you watch youtube? Do you have a buddy who can solder? It's pretty darn easy. With the single coils you may have an ok pickup in the stock guitars, but once they pickups get bigger (P90s and HBs), ceramic pickups (stock) usually sound really brittle. So if you get a...

Looking for a nice electric guitar

the old analog delay chips are hard to find nowdays and nobody makes any equivalent. the PT2399 is the digital chip equivalent and it's so much cheaper to make and much more consistent...but not quite the same. Anyway, if you have an oldschool AD9 I wouldn't mod it. Plus, a lot of analog...

Looking for a nice electric guitar

I think Maxon made all of the Ibanez effects for a long time, then Ibanez split away and now makes their own while Maxon continues to make what they've always made...whatever though, the Tube Screamer is a classic. Ibanez effects are pretty good for the most part...their buffers suck, so i'd...

Looking for a nice electric guitar

you're going to have to play a few and tell us what kind of music you like or are going to use it for. A lot of people dis the MIM fenders, but since around 2006 (and pre-1993) their MIM stuff is great. A lot of years it's the same as the MIA stuff just with crappy pickups (which you can...

My friend's LP Studio guitar fell off the stand

I've got a buddy with one of those kramer basses (with the forked headstock?) and it was a trooper. we toured with that for years and abused our gear in ways that make me cringe now.

What is your favorite cleaner for a hard guitar case?

Use something that was designed for whatever surface the case is made of. For example, hard plastic is great with windex and 409...leather need a legitimate leather cleaner. So just us a basic cleaner that fits the material.

Mid to High end Preamp Recommendations

explaining soldering in words is so hard...i tried and what i had written was junk. youtube should have some good stuff. This one is ok...start paying attention around 2:20...and ignore when he says "clip leads prior to soldering" I never do and I've never had a problem. How and WHY to Solder...

    THIS bass sound

I'd hate to see what's going on the cave right now...60s dude, dogman, nave, C7, I forget all the other names...trying to show off who knows least about everything known to man. bass is really tricky to me. more so than other instruments, if it sounds good soloed, it typically sounds bad in a...

I'll see what I can scrounge up. I mostly use it live because it's not mine. I'll dig in the archives and see what I can find. I will own one one day though! Such a gorgeous sounding amp...great clean tone and amazing OD.

    marshal dsl 401 footswitch

I play a lot of "faggy music", and the JTM 45 is my favorite live amp. For recording I usually use my Dr Z maz 18, Fender Deluxe Reverb, and Twins, and JTM 45. I don't get why people always say fender's cleans are the best, they're just different. Marshalls can get some really nice cleans...
