Recording on TSR8 straight into Pro Tools

ahhh, i wondered if it recorded to tape and onto PT through the tape but it would only be going through the board. THat is ok though. No worries syncing it up so its all in time. As miroslav says just record a click track on on of the tracks on 8 track, dump all 8 in , record another click track...

Recording on TSR8 straight into Pro Tools

I had no computer for a long time but just got a very cheap imac. Been recording on the TSR8 with tascam m216 mixer for about a year and love it. love the desk, love the tape, but i must admit, i miss the mixing and editing in Pro Tools. I had a bit of a break through. I have 8 cables going...

Whats a good set up for using Tape & DAW together?

But if I'm going from tape machine to 002 and I've got 4 mic pres and 4 lines I'm wondering if this will have a negative or inconsistent effect on the overall sound. I don't think I can by pass the pres.

    Tascam TSR-8 Volume Drops

When that happens, clean the heads, clean the tape path. This happens on my TSR8 when the heads are dirty. Dont use ATR tape on this machine either unless youve got someone to tune your machine to that tape. itll be fucked in no time

Whats a good set up for using Tape & DAW together?

Thank you for your reply. I record through the mixer onto tape. once the music is on tape, would i be better off dumping straight from the tape to the digi 002 or through the mixer to the 002? I dont want to mix using my mixer, i want to mix and edit in pro tools. my mixer is very limited which...

Whats a good set up for using Tape & DAW together?

Im thinking of doing away with my m216 Tascam mixer. Its limiting and im getting tired of mixing and editing with it. Ive heard that i can record straight onto tape using things like a lexicon AD/DA converter. I would then like to dump the tracks into PT for editing/mixing. I have no idea about...

    modern tape machines?

I bought a tascam TSR8 last year. mint condition, needed a sensor replaced though which cost be about $100 to get a tech to do. The machine is solid and has been running really well ever since. ive used it alot. keep the tape path clean, keep an eye on things. As vessel2020 says, thats the fun...

    Mixing Down

well ive pulled the DAT out and given it another go. I think it far exceeds the Zoom in sound quality. Ive done some bounces on the zoom at 96khz 48bit and thrown it on the computer. Tonight ive bounced to DAT. The sound off the DAT sounds much warmer, cleaner, clearer, less digital than off the...

    Mixing Down

When I got the 8 track , I thought I needed a dat player so I paid 370 for a Sony dat Walkman. A bit excessive. At the time I had an mbox and I went to that. Bit of a hassle. I got a digi 002 now but don't use it. I always had the zoom and have found it to be the easiest to use. The dat sounds...

Why do you record in analogue?

Right on. The best music as far as im concerned was made in the analog domain, which is why i use it now for the last year. Used pro tools for 8 years , but once i got the tape machine i havent used PT since. My computer died at Xmas and i didnt even buy another one! i happily sacrifice 48...

Hi All. Ive got a tascam TSR8 and a m216 mixer. Getting a pretty good sound and starting to mixdown. My Question is : which is better to mix too, a DAT machine, or a Zoom H2 recorder onto SD card. Lately ive been recording straight to the zoom cause from there its easy to get it onto my computer...
